HL2 64-bit is back

OK, very nice to have the 64-bit version back with yesterday's update but it doesn't recognize my saved games anymore. Is there any way to get them to work with the 64-bit version? (apart from forcing the game to run in 32-bit mode)

I don't have a 64 bit setup, but I would guess if they don't work they're just not going to work. This might be something to contact Valve directly about, they could probably fix it pretty quick...

Hey I figured it out! You can't load a 32-bit saved game in 64-bit mode but when you start a new game it does let you select the level where you last were. I was just at the beginning of Entanglement so I'll just start from there in 64-bit. I wonder if I'll have to start without any weapons though

is the hl2 in orange box the 64-bit version?

Steam detects if you run a 32 or 64 bit OS and according to that it updates your version. So it doesn't matter which version you install in the first place.

I am also having the problem where my saved games are gone. I can see them in the HL2 folder but cant load them. Has anybody figured out how to fix this or heard from Valve or Steam.

Look 3 posts above your post.
Just start a new game and you can choose the level where you last saved a game.
