DarkOneX, last warning. Shorten that signature to no more than 4 lines and to be honest, no one cares about your computer specs. Shorten the sig or I'll remove it.

My thoughts though?
Sounds promising!

Last warning huh? I never had 1 warning, if I did I would have changed it.

Well I've got a copy of the very PM that I sent you and if you look in the last thread you posted in you'll see the warning there too.

For some reason this expiry date just makes me believe those coupons are goin to be expired before the game is released

Hehe, that's a possibility I guess.

umm.. ouch?

hehe i hope not for the pple that paid all that moolah for their video cards and not get their freebie..

I doubt ATI would let that happen. Think about it. They paid what, like 7+ million to be able to do this deal. If their customers get nothing ot of it, that will have been flushed down the toilet.

The least they can do is indefinitely extend the date. I would not be suprised if they are politely pushing Valve as fast as possible to get HL2 out the door.

vrry promesing. :)
Hope it gets out before that date, i feel like my sanity has around the same expiration date.

It's likely those coupons were printed before the delay was officially announced. ATI could easily extend the offer to account for Valve unceremoniously blowing past their original release date.

That's class action suit material if I ever heard one.

Agreed. If anything it just shows that Valve communicated to ATI there was a solid release date at one time, otherwise ATI would have held off on printing this date.

Although, I have to say I am not convinced this is real. Even if the game was released on sept 30th, that would be a VERY short amount of time for this kind purchase...just 4 months.....and that's also saying the cards would have been out at the same time too. That seems a bit odd to me.

Possibly, but why would they say "holida release" if Valve had said all along 10-24. Either Valve was telling industry insiders and its fans two different things, or this coupon was printed after the delay (but maybe before the hacking), or ATI just pulled the date out of their behind.

I think it's probably just a sketchy data from VALVe to ATi so they had something to print on their coupons, I wouldn't make assumptions on any release date yet, especially a release date that Vivendi tells us.

ATI and Valve have already announced that holders of the coupon will receive the Premier Pack online free via Steam. Along with that announcement they said that HL2 would automatically be received by those who did just that. So the expiration date doesn't matter (unless you absolutely want the CD copy) - you will get it whenever it comes out.

Probably a financial protection for ATI.

Each one of those coupons is booked as a potential liablity. Each Month they will have to reconcile the potential liability (Number of Coupons sold) against the actual number of coupons redeemed accruing the balance into the next fiscal period.

All this tells us is that there accountants did not want to accrue the liability past the date on the card.

You cannot accrue this type a liability for more than a year and are forced to eventually write it off as a loss against income or reconcile and close the liability out by not accepting further redemption.

This can have little or nothing to do with any actual true information on the release of the product and will most likely be extended by ATI.

Honestly I doubt that the game is coming out before the Holidays. But, this might give me some new hope. But this could have been printed in September.

I actually have a coupon with a card that I just bought and it looks nothing like that pic. It definitely does not have an expiration date. On a side note i think it's interesting that while they give you two delivery options - download or cd by mail, they also have conditioned it so that you would be an idiot to choose the hard copy. "Please allow for 4-6 weeks for delivery". Who in their right minds would wait a month for HL2 after it's out? In other words, this is a promotion not just for the game but also for Steam.

Sorry to let you guys know, but the image posted is of a Best Buy sign. It goes in the sign rail next to the price sign. The area with the "expiration date" is normally covered by the price sign. The "expiration date" is simply the date that Best Buy employees are supposed to take the sign down. That is all it is.

Oh, BTW, I work at Best Buy.

Cant you redeem the voucher straight away anyway, and then they just send you the game as soon as it gets released. So you would use the voucher before expiery anyway...

Besides that looks like POS material

Lol read the fine print. Date is subject to change. Another kick in the balls.

Just to clarify this point -
Please allow 6-8 weeks and mailing time for processing. Please note, for Half-Life® 2 CD requests, ATI will commence shipping on the date that Half-Life® 2 is released by its retail publisher and available for purchase in the retail channel. In addition, please allow for 4-6 weeks for delivery.
That is from ATI's website. Even if you sent the voucher in now it would still take 4-6 weeks for the game to arrive, AFTER it has been on the shelves. And if you bought a new card right when HL2 came out then you might actually be waiting 2 1/2 months to get it (!)
Like I said before, this is a Steam promotion as well.
