I am suprised this hasn't been discussed yet.

Newell is hoping that the other cabals will move on to creating episodic single-player content that will be released in chunks over Steam. One tentative plan calls for Valve to start developing an episodic game that lets players assume the role of Alyx Vance. "I'd love to play a game that tells the story of Alyx and Doc, her pet Robot," Newell says.

Looking good, I think it will be like blue shift and oppositing force (have a different perspective). Think doc is a typo and means dog.

I think it would be cooler if you played as Dog instead of as Alyx; that way you'll still have a reason for the player not having any dialog. :D

Either as a Combine or "nameless" Resistance soldier. In any case, it's obvious that Half Life 2 is only the beginning...

Alyx and Doc? Is that a typo or is that an older name or a new name for Dog now?

Edit: ahh ok nevermind lol

I wish you could play as a whiskeybottle... or as a bench... wait, Alyx might be better.. =) I would play that.

The great thing i picked up from that, Was the word "episodic" kinda like, 3 hour games as parts of a much larger project punched out every month or so, telling a story, With steam, They are now able to do such things, sounds freakin cool.. Kinda like, FPS comic books. rofl.

I want to play as barney or a resistance member... but not alyx..

Now THAT sounds awesome.

"In this month's issue..."

:)

I'd guess these kindsa things would be really, really cheap, but still paid-for.

They're supposed to be about three hours long, so would cost a fraction of the price of a full game/expansion pack, and probably give you better value for money than a cinema ticket. It's also fairly cool how Steam enables these kinds of scenarios, because it wouldn't make any commercial sense to put three-hour long games on store shelves, the profit margins would be way too low.

I'd rather play as a combine, or shepard (OP4 2). Or better yet maybe shepard is a rebel now.

Everything valve makes is good. I have no worries at all.

i am sorry if i do not feel as excited to play as Alyx in an expansion pack as i would be if Adrian Shepherd was the playable character.
i just hope Valve don't just forget about this guy and let Opposing Force fall to the very back of expansion pack options.

i know theres quite a few Shepherd fans around here and i hope u guys all voice ur opinion about this so Valve realizes how popular Adrian Shepherd is, next to of course Gordon and the G-man. :p
