HL2 MP - something 2 talk about...

Will there be a themed HL2 MP?

I believe there will be because long long ago we had word from valve that "Vehicles will be in singleplayer and multiplayer" so there ya go. Any other words of wisdom anyone has to say?

We don't know at the time. But it sure would be fun with a HL2DM. Combine vs Resistance and such on the streets of C17.

Yeah, that would be sweet as hell. Any like a HLTDM mode or something, but yeah i like the idea of combine vs. resistance in the city, or just multiple freemans, alyx, eli, scientists, etc...

Well they said they were going to talk about once they got in the launch cycle, but still, in may at e3, they were probably considering that the launch cycle and look now...you know valve...but im not contradicting myself about the themed MP, im sure valve has one. Especially from people playing it in the leaked beta, but i heard it wasn't like there, they had to configure and do all this stuff to even make MP work...so....

I think[hope] that there will be a HL2 themed multiplayer; there are some levels that would be wicked to play multiplayer, especially the flat swamp like areas on the raft with the fan (forgotten its name :/)

However, I dont think TF2 will come for a while, they have enough to work on at the moment, although I would think quite a bit on it has been done already.

You know, in the HL2 Developer Interview, they did say they were holding back the multiplayer suprise until they released the product. And that was said in May of 2003...hmmmmmm.....very strange....and rumour has it work started for CS:S in January 2004? I think we got a HUGE suprise coming people....

um, they have never said anything about any HL2 mp definitley being released except CS:S
so if HL2 MP isn't there, they didn't lie.

My point is that just because he stated he was playing HL2 MP before development of CS:S, doesn't necessarily make it so.

He could have been playing an HL2-themed MP.

He could have been playing CS 1.6

Maybe he wasn't playing anything at all and just said that to keep people excited. (I wouldn't put this past them. After all, they lied about the state of the game and the AI)

methinks they made basic multiplayer and played it all the time.
then they decided CS:S was a better way to go, for whatever reason.

the kind of stuff pl want from HL2 MP (throwing physics objects at each other with the physgun) is enough to keep a Valve sized dev team occupied a long while. and everyone wants the game yesterday.

i'd say on HL2 release day ) oh glorious day!) expect an announcement about upcoming additions...

remember - VALVE could have has omething cool working on LAN that didn't work well on the net so they scrapped it. the days of LAN only MP are passed. even if they said LAN only they'd get flamed... so i think they may take their time to do it right.

No, I doubt there will be any HL themed multiplayer. I think CS:S will be the multiplayer component to ship with the game.

Yea thats true, he totally lied about the state of the game at the time, and he could have lied about it totally but I doubt he did. Its totally open to possiblity, but I dont expect that big of a lie out of any game company. Then again he could always come out and see its coming in a expansion pack..ugh..we shall find out soon (hopefully)..
