Like I've done previously, here you will state your top 10 games/game series. Preferably series rather than single games, but if you say, only like one game in a series, use just that one.

Now that the [strike]10's[/strike] 00's are over.. well, that really sounds gay. Either way, it's been a great decade for games as a whole(well, the first half of it anyway.). 'Ere we go.

1. Ace Combat Series
2. Metal Gear Series
3. Total War Series
4. Half Life Series
5. Persona Series
6. Shadow of the Colossus
7. Demon's Souls
8. STALKER Series
9. Knights of the Old Republic Series
10. Civilization Series

ALTERNATE NON-SERIES LIST

1. Ace Combat Zero
2. Metal Gear 3
3. Rome: Total War

5. Persona 3
6. Shadow of the Colossus

10. WoW

I'm only allowing myself one specific game per series. I have to choose the best.

1. Monkey Island Series (1, 2, 3 and Tales. Escape can be forgotten.)
2. AvP Series ( I have no doubt the 3rd one is going to be brilliant.)
3. Max Payne 1/2
4. Mass Effect 1/2
5. Riddick Butcher Bay/Dark Athena
6. Grand Theft Auto 3/IV (San Andreas held no appeal for me)
7. Sam And Max Telltale Games Series
8. Batman: Arkham Asylum
9. Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 1&2 Single Player
10. Mirrors Edge

In no particular order

1. Ground Control
2. World in Conflict: Soviet Assault
3. Half-Life 2
4. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
5. Battlefield 2
6. Portal
7. Empire: Total War
8. Red Alert 2
9. Beyond Good & Evil
10. Mass Effect

I only take part if Rimfire is doing it

:arms:

Including games I don't like anymore, but when I was younger :)

1. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
2. Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
3. Team Fortress 2
4. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
5. Half-Life 2+episodes
6. Far Cry
7. Grand Theft Auto IV
8. Max Payne 2
9. GTA III
10. Portal

This is more or less how it goes:

1. Half Life 2
2. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
3. Deus Ex
4. Halo 3
5. Super Smash Brothers: Brawl
6. Civilization III
7. Rome: Total War
8. Burnout Revenge
9. Knights of the Old Republic
10. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

it's VERY difficult to come up with just 10 since so many great games have come out over the past decade...
many of which I've yet to play (Shadow of the Colossus, Uncharted 2 etc etc)
with that in mind, here's what I've come up with:

1. Half Life 2
2. Team Fortess 2
3. Counter Strike
4. Diablo 2
5. Battlefield 2
6. Company of Heroes
7. Portal
8. Rome: Total War
9. Grand Theft Auto IV
10. Halo: Combat Evolved

1. CoH
2. Battlefield 2
3. Dwarf Fortress (well, in theory anyway)

Can't think of anything else that truly wowed me atm.

Well this is easy. :p In no real order...

Baldur's Gate II
Icewind Dale II
Team Fortress 2
Deus Ex
Guild Wars
Mass Effect
Civilization IV
Half-Life 2
World of Warcraft
Diablo II

Pretty boring list as covering a decade's worth of games in a list of 10 really only leaves room for the obvious choices.

1. Half-Life 2 (2004... well its not finished yet)
2. Portal (2007)
3. No One Lives Forever (2000)
4. Knights of the Old Republic (2003)
5. Max Payne (2001)
6. Mafia (2002)
7. Europa Universalis 2 (2001)
8. Beyond Good & Evil (2003)
9. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl (2007)
10. The Witcher (2007)

Wait, why would it be "preferably game series'" and not just single games? Is this a consumer whore's decade in review where you're only allowed to like milked franchises? Also, is this supposed to be only games made in the last decade?

Some games not in particular order:

Half-Life 2 + Episodes
Left 4 Dead
Team Fortress 2
Fear 1
Mirror's Edge
Psychonauts
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines

My list, not necessarily based on what I think of them now but rather as how I liked them at the time.

1. Planetside
2. MGS Series
3. HL2 + Episodes
4. Fallout 3 (This is more how I felt at the time rather than how I feel now)
5. Left 4 Dead, 1 and 2
6. Team Fortress 2
7. Counter-Strike: Source
8. Mass Effect
9. Metroid Primes
10. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

It was pretty hard for 9 and 10, as I was absolutely euphoric when playing those games, but I was much younger.

Honourable Mentions: Dragon Age: Origins; CoD 4, 5 and MW2; Bioshock; Deus Ex; Halo series; STALKER series; and some others.

If they were made during this decade, Planescape: Torment, Fallouts 1 and 2 and Starcraft probably would have been in the top 6.

Eh, I haven't played as many games this decade, so keep that in mind. But this is a hasty list of the most memorable and fun games from 2000-2010 for me. I definitely factored hours played/value into the ordering.

Phantasy Star Online (a free MMORPG for Dreamcast)
Everquest [1]
World of Warcraft
Capcom Vs. SNK NEO 2
Half Life 2
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Morrowind
Oblivion (without mods, this would have never made the list)
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (some bland areas, but it's still GTA, with lots of good parts)
GTR 2 (best racing sim, though could have been more fun if they added a more game-like career mode)

Yes, I like RPGs. First person shooters are ****ing awesome, but usually can't compare when it comes to 'stuff to do' (hours played).

FEAR was really good too, if the list went to 11.

Half Life 2
Portal
Half Life 2 Episode 2
Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines.
Metal Gear Solid 3
Team Fortress 2
Bioshock
Fallout 3
Metal Gear Solid 2
Grand Theft Auto IV

Counting these things up is a bitch. Good luck Ace. My series:

  • Half-Life
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
  • Deus Ex
  • Company of Heroes
  • Command & Conquer
  • Advance Wars*
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Monkey Island
  • Commandos
  • Resident Evil

* Advance Wars is technically a subseries of Nintendo Wars but I've never played any non Advance Wars one.

Edit: I like how almost no one is actually voting for series like AcePilot asked. No one ever reads the OP.

I just said 'preferably' since there have been quite a lot of series that I loved all the games in, and it'd be hard for me to pick favorites(although I had to sit there for a bit to do my second list). If you want to do single games, go right ahead!

1. Deus Ex
2. Legend of Zelda: OOT
3. Half life 2 + Episodes
4. Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines
5. Rome: Total War
6. The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
7. Portal
8. Dragon Age: Origins
9. KOTOR 1, 2
10. Mirrors Edge

  • Peggle
  • Plants Versus Zombies
  • World of Goo
  • The Sims
  • Theme Hospital
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Half-Life 2
  • Croc
  • Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
  • Sonic the Hedgehog (SEGA Master System ftw)

  • GTA series
  • Max Payne series
  • Far Cry 1
  • FEAR 1
  • Red Faction series
  • C&C series
  • UT series
  • Left 4 Dead series
  • RTCW
  • Half Life 2 + Ep2

2000-2009

* Beyond Good & Evil

A fantastic experience in a beautiful, imaginative world, tackling mature themes without falling into pathos. Also, Jade.

* Knights of the Old Republic 2

Planescape Torment IN SPACE!

* Deus Ex

A game that made me reconsider my centralist political views.

* Operation Flashpoint

The only game to hammer home the "War is hell" point. Call of Duty series and Medal of Honor with their pseudo-realistic self-absorbed gloating can't even hope to meet the excellence of Czech OFP.

Especially the Resistance addon. The only game in which my brother failed to complete the first level.

* The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

To date the best and most varied Elder Scrolls game. Apart from an unique world with well developed plot and intrigue, it features some really captivating moments.

* Arcanum

Steampunk and inversion of all fantasy stereotypes. Also, amazing, believeable world, awesome writing and massive replay value.

* Gothic

A great German fantasy tale, set in a non-cliched world with some really good twists to accompany it.

* STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl

Sovietpunk at its finest.

* The Witcher

Self-explanatory.

* Fallout 3 (RIP 2003)

Spot reserved for the departed Van Buren, the last heir of the Fallout dynasty.

1. Beyond Good and Evil
2. Half-Life 2
3. Bioshock
4. World of Goo
5. Half-Life 2: Episode Two
6. Age of Mythology
7. Team Fortress 2
8. Portal
9. Left 4 Dead
10. Hitman: Blood Money

That ended up being more Valve than I expected...
