Hl2 Thai Version

Hi,

I just bought hl2 off ebay and have received it today only to find that it is the thai version of the game (i'm english)

1.Will this work on my computer (I assume it will as the install menu is displayed)
2.How do i change the install menu to english instead of thai?
3.Is the in game speech etc in thai also?
4.Will my steam account be any different to a Uk version?

Please could someone help ASAP

I think if your Steam settings are set to English, the game will automatically download an English language pack for the game.

Not sure about the install menu though.

At the moment im struggling on the install screens as I have no clue wat they are saying

After the screen where you accept the use license agreement (which just happens to be written in english)
would someone be able to tell me what the next screen is saying as there are 2 options available?

EDIT: The next screen appears to have a range of internet speeds to select from (around 8) ranging from:

14.4k
l
\/
ISDN 112k
l
\/
T1/LAN 1M

I assume this is relating to my internet speed? Well I have a 2meg connection so which option should I pick?

Ahhhh well...
I just clicked the "Next" button accepting all the default options so hopefully it will work. Its installing now i think

Buying from ebay you took one hell of a chance, especially since Valve instructed people not to do that, you obviously did no research beforehand. HL2 works based on a cd-key which is binded to a steam account, and to play the game you must log into that specific account. So if you buy a HL2 (you are essentially buying the cd-key) as the game can be downloaded from steam. If it's pre-registered to the previous owner in thailand it seems you've lost your cash. I hope that you haven't done that, or that the person you bought it from hasn't scammed you. However we see it every week, it's a reoccuring problem, due to public naivity.

Hi,
The game was sealed so I do infact have a unused cd key.
The game itself is thai though.
I have installed steam and the menus are all in thai so i cannot udnerstand the fields where i should be inputting my cd key etc..
So could I download steam off the net (english version), register with my thai cd key, and then download the english versions of all the games that were included in the game of the year edition which i bought?

Once you start up steam change the language setiing to English and steam should change the in-game dialogue and all that to English.

Well I haven't set my steam account up yet because i can't understand the registration screens.

Do you think it would work if I downloaded the english version of steam, register with my Thai CD Key?

Also would it then allow me to download the games from steam, in english?

Download Steam from www.steampowered.com and feed it your CD key rather than using the CD installer. It will download all the latest English files for you
