HL2 without a "bin" folder

Hullo, I'm having a problem running my maps where I get an error saying something like "could not find client library" and I have already found the solution but to solve my problem I need to copy and paste somthing from the HL2 "bin" folder and I dont have one for some reason. CS and episode 1 both have "bin" folders, just Half Life 2 dosnt. I already reinstalled it all.
Any ideas?

You could delete youre hl2 folder and let steam redownload all the content, including the bin folder. Not sure if it would work though

You need to run the game once to create the folders and settings required for SDK to be able to edit

do I have to play through the whole game or just run part of it? I'm assuming just part but I just want to be sure

Nope just load the game to the main menu and exit then it should appear in the SDK dropdown box. If it still doesnt appear try using the SDK's "reset game configuration" and "reset SDK contents"...
Also make sure all games include the SDK are up-to-date.
