Its interesting how the number of militias increased as well as the tax collected from firearms sales yet the overall violent crime rate decreased.

I'm glad Michigan was the only state government facing budget problems in 2007.

Also, Stern, I wouldn't be too hard on the militias. The infographic shows that crime has went down. MAYBE THEY'RE CORRELATED.

People are saving their bullets for when it all goes Cormac McCarthy's 'The road' ;)

The militia's would be pretty cool if they actually protected Americans by say defending houses from Balifs after foreclosure.

Seriously, all the crime the financial sector engaged in and then Americans are happy to lie down and take their family homes from them?
If this was north Ireland the communities would be digging the guns back up and defending their homes, already been a few cases in the north of local activists defending homes from repo-men and such. Militias should play a similar role.

but you misinterpret the role of american militias; it's primarily about gun appreciation, blaming everything on minorities and secondarily about protecting americans from oppressive socialist obama programs

probably because the criminals had something better to do ...like go to militia meetings

Well atleast we have 23 3D movies as opposed to the 4 we had in 2007. Well worth it I would say.

Didn't Ireland get ****ed in the world recession as well?

I think the crime down is cuz there has been many layoffs in those industries so all the criminals has to make a living in other ways
