I've played HL2 a few times (and LOVED it!) so I decided I wanted to play around with the cheatcodes, and look behind the walls and doors that you can't get to when you play normally.
Then I realized that you can arm yourself right off the bat (right out of the train at the beginning) by typing "impulse 101" into the console. This gives you all weapons and ammo.
Unfortunately, this means that you get the environment suit as well.
And what happens when you get to Dr. Kleiner's lab? You have to put on your environment suit. But since you already have it on, you can't!
And the game won't progress until you put the suit on. Alyx, Barney and Dr. Kleiner just stand there urging you to put the suit on (Alyx even promises not to look! ;) )

I'm stuck!

I guess I could start over and not use that cheat code. But I'd like to know if anyone here has run into this same problem, and how they got around it.

Thanks!

you can't. you'll just have to use the map or changelevel command.

....Congradulations, You are nub! jking welcome to the forums, I had that problem when I was messing about with the Cheats. Go charge your suit and I think it will just skip ahead a few triggers and it should work..otherwise...just start from a quicksave or something.

That's pathetic programming on Valve's part. Should've used an absolute flag for the HEV rather than a toggleable one.

Not really, he shouldn't have been using cheats.

It's the same for HL1.

It's not really pathetic programming because you're not expected to already have the suit at that point anyway.

There's no guarentee of stability and gameplay continuity when you start messing with the game's variables, but Valve have done a fine job overall.

As above.

Foebane, yes, every single one of HL2's shortcomings point to Valve. But as do every single one of Doom3's shortcomings point to iD. Live with it, FoeBane! Yarrr!

The solution's pretty easy in this case. Go the main menu, New Game, start at "Red Letter Day". Don't use cheats until you get the suit.

Yeah, I ended up going noclip and searching for the level exit point.

It's a pity, because I had blown away Lamarr as soon as I saw it. But that didn't stop the others from reacting like they always do. Kleiner still tried to lure it to his head, and complained like always when it "got away" through the duct. But the equipment up top didn't get knocked over or anything.
I was looking forward to finding out how the teleport sequence would go without Lamarr there to interfere. I guess it would still happen as always, just no Lamarr.

Thanks for the advice.

Erm, Doom 3 doesn't HAVE any shortcomings. Live with it, JINtor!

Maybe Valve should construct an entire world outside the map you play, just in case people decide to noclip, too

wtf? Just restart the game and the level........
