i read somewhere that you need an internet connection to activate and play half life 2 but i was wonderin is that just for multiplayer mode or do you really need the internet to just play the single player mode??? if you do need 1 why?

You need an internet connection to activate the game, which is a one time thing when you install the game. After that you can play offline unlimited. This is done to stop piracy which happened with games such as Doom 3, San Andreas and Halo 2 before release which the developers lost million of pounds of profit.

thnx m8 1 more question does the internet connection have to be on the computer i want to install half life on because the only computer i have with the internet is in the lounge but it doesn't have a decent graphics card so i want to install it on my bedroom comp

You dont have to. If you have an account you can also login on that other computer.

no you can't. jesus, think about it for a second. how on earth will your account on your gaming system know that you validated the game on another computer if you don't have an internet connection?

you *have* to validate the game on the system that you will be playing it on.

Right... Damn im so f*cking stupid :o

Heh don't worry, that didn't occur to me right away either :o

Erm, you might be too late ... there'll prob be a very angry person on the forums later :)

If he did that he would have to have the internet on his other computer to get the game files and login and all that. But if he had the internet on that computer this wouldnt be a problem.

The only thing he could do is drag his computer down stairs for a minute, dont see how that would be to big a problem.

Thx for trying to cheer me up :E.
well, he did mention that there is another computer in the house with an internet connection, so he's probably not completely screwed.
