I just got my iPod Touch update with the app store and I must say: wow. This thing is 10 x more useful now. I have a pocket constitution, a pocket periodic table, and a pocket graphing calculator!

Well, I'm getting a bit off task with my rambling on up there. But with all that, I was trying to make a point: with all of these cool apps, like AIM and MySpace, how cool would a Steam app be on there?

Think about it: chat with your groups, browse game selections and possibly queue them up for download, and check up on the latest news on Steam.

So what do you think? Any other suggestions on how this app could be used?

I would personally like the community aspect of steam on the iPhone. A few friends of mine on there don't have any other instant messengers so Steam is the only text based communication I have with them.

Eh. I think Steam should stick purely to gaming, we don't want it to turn into Myspace.

There may pop a few games up on Steam to play on there, and I think a few of them are already in that format (I believe Company of Heroes is one). While the IM may be somewhat usual, as I don't have iPhone or iPod, it's not something I would use.

I meant not only friend-to-friend, but going into a chat room on Steam. Also, you could check up on the game status of friends and maybe join voice chats with the iPhone or the iPod Touch Gen2.
