Darkside's heading out. This will be my last day posting from this location. Moved to California's Central Valley nearly a decade ago, back when it was all just tracts of farmland. Seen a bunch of rural cities develop out here, and this truckstop of a town I'm living in seems poised to become another, but I'm not gonna be around to see it.

You know what sucks about rural living? Damn near everything. I hate the country. I never wanted anything to do with it; moved out here because of family and the ever-increasing costs of city living. I was made for city life; I was born in the Bay where it's just one big city that rolls on down the highway. City after city after city meshing into one. Over here it's just cows.

So, got my ass in gear and I got me a real sweet job in the video game industry. I'm relocating to San Francisco come tomorrow morning. Change my little location tag to say "SF." Come next week I'll be posting to you out of a highrise office where I can look down at people from glass windows, scurrying around like ants, going about their busy days.

Day's already half over, still gotta pack, and my friends are coming from all around to give me a sendoff tonight. I'm hyped past the point of sleep. New job, moving back to the city that I have missed for nine long years. Darkside's greatest journey begins here.

Did you kill somebody?

That's what we all want to know.

Cause I'm leavin, on a jet plane. Don't know when I'll be back again. Oh babe, I hate to go.

Grats on the job and stuff.
Cities are ok, country sucks, the coast wins. A coastal city is fine too.

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.

Raz we know he killed someone, maybe he's feeling the heat about that neighbour who borrowed his lawnmower.

I've killed lots of people, but that has nothing to do with my decision to vacate the area posthaste.

And yes, coastal cities are great. The salty ocean air, yarr.

what video game company?

You should bring a video camera and document your trip

No, they have air.

An air of pretentiousness!

what video game company?
Wegame.com

Also, there's a place that has air as opposed to our customary smog. It's on the wharf, which I'd never been to until last Tuesday. Surrealist place ever; it was clean and I only saw one bum. One! And he wasn't even harrassing anybody. Combined with fresh air? Tripped me out, man.

So, if I understood this correctly, congrats on your new job :D

Darkside may even begin to turn to the light side! Truly, the force is strong in this one...

Congrats, hope you like it out there and don't miss the cows!

1. Darkside.

2. New Job.

3. Moving out.

4. ???

5. Profit.

Good luck man. May the force be with you.

I feel exactly the same way about cities. You are to be congratulated!

I mean, on landing a job and moving out, not on happening to think similar things to me.

Are you going to keep in contact with your friends? The countryside is actually quite wonderful, but it's best to visit, rather than to live. The more opportunities you have to take a break in the sticks, the better.

Take me with you! D:

God I hate the country... then again our cities aren't that far removed over here, but anything's better than isolation and cows (and, yes, sheep). Oh well, good luck have fun and all that garbage. Bastard.

I never knew darkside was so close to me D: I live in EC, if you know what I'm talking about.

Congrats on the job! Not sure how that qualifies as being in the game industry, being just a youtube for video games site... but congrats anyways!

I was thinking of moving out there and finding work in the game industry, but my whole family is in New England, so I decided to apply for game company jobs up there.

I shudder when i think of what wouldve become of me if I moved to the same city as Darkside...

I think you would not last long with Darkside around.
You would be dead in minutes.

Hell yeah. I love traveling. Especially the traveling part, not actually arriving somewhere... just pit stops and frito lays.

I'd also thought about moving out, but there's a long road ahead to that.

Awesomecakes to you living and making a living in cityville, Darkside.

Lol awesome
Good luck on the job
When you get a game out be sure to post it ^_-

Seems a pretty good site. What side of that business will you be in, the reviewing of the games or admin stuff? Regardless, it seems as good a place as any for getting into the business and I wish you all my luck.

I went to SF about 3 years ago and it was amazing. I loved all the... hills and trams and stuff. I think of the American cities I've visited, it's the one I'd most like to live in.

It's Darkside... he's going to be a bitter reviewer.

So... if Darkside is travelling today we can safely say thing like "Naruto > Batman" or "The animated GI Joe film was a masterpiece"?

"rural cities"
Bit of an oxymoron there, no?

Cities are alright, but I'm a country boy and I like the lack of noise and traffic. If there's anything I hate it's traffic. Getting around a city can be alright if you can walk or if there's good public transport (like a metro) but I hate driving in cities so much. I hate towns especially. You still get traffic and noise but you can't walk to the good shops most of the time because they're all in the damn city.

And both Transformers films were crap. The only saving grace of the first one was Unicron and the second one had no saving grace.

Darksides going to be pissed when he comes back!

Im more of a suburban town guy. I dont like cities at all, nor do I like rural areas. I prefer me some well-established towns, just outside of a major city.

I grew up in a small city of about 100 000. I think I prefer smaller town living. It's nice knowing that you can get anywhere you need to be in 10 minutes on a bicycle.

Thanks for all the grats, guys.

So, I'm here at work early, the only place I got internets, or game consoles, or TV...

My friends gave me the grand sendoff on Thursday/Friday. Went out, partied, had a grand old time because both I and another friend of mine left town to pursue our careers; I'm only two hours away but he's moving to another state, so we all got together and had one last meeting with all of us members of "The Injustice League of CA," for about three years (which is when our other friend gets back).

But since I'm so close I'm still getting hit up to hang out, you know. "I'll see you in two weeks," "Can I come spend the night?" "We're coming to watch Iron Man on IMAX over there on May 2nd, right?" My friends have professed how jealous they are of where I'm living so they want to try and find every excuse to come over. I'm going to start imposing visiting restrictions.

We also created the program that allows you to record your videos, and we work with game developers.

All my days are going to be filled with haterade and snarky comments.

I'll be creating lots of different content; you'll see reviews but you'll also see strategies, tips tricks and cheats, spotlights on games, maybe a little machinima...a myriad of videos.

But you can get anywhere in five minutes on a subway car!

Also, speaking of populations, every other person here is a bum. One out of every two is a bum, and the other half aren't bums but they're dressed like bums. Bums in this town are savages; begging, hanging out, sleeping where they please living where they please; I saw a bum the other day when I was walking to the store, he wreathed himself in a spotted gray blanket and slept up against a cement post. Camouflage bum. I'm going to have so many bum stories for you guys after a week that I could write a book.

Sounds like you could use some IR goggles ,or a Yautja mask if they're using camo now :/
