The day after the NIU tragedy this week, I was on the Fox News Channel predicting that the killer on your campus would be someone who was immersed in violent video games, as this is a common thread in almost all of these incidents. I mentioned in the interview the mass murder simulation game, Counter-Strike. It was the game of choice by the killers in the two worst school shootings in history?Virginia Tech and Erfurt, Germany.

And the game of choice for millions of other people who HAVEN'T shot up schools, what's his point.
 
His point is that he's never going to be taken seriously again.

Jesus Christ, what an idiot! "Mass-murder simulation game". That really pisses me off.
 
It's actually a game about killing terrorism. That's American. If he doesn't like it then he's a Communist!
 
Has he heard of the horrific new mass murder simulation game Team Fortress 2?? My god, the amount of gore is shocking!
 
Oh, yup. So did Counter-Strike make the guy stop taking his meds? It's already been said he was mentally unsound.
 
His girlfriend also testified that he was a really, REALLY good guy, and that it's because he went off his meds that he started to act more bizarre and dangerous.

This doesn't sound like a psychopathic killer type. This sounds like a guy who was consumed by his mental problems, but stopped taking his medications because he said he felt like a zombie when on them.
 
Jack Thompson is an opportunist. He'll do anything within the legal system that's the most popular to get ahead because that's what lawyers do. Do you guys think he really believes all that BS he says himself? I'm sure he probably still plays Counter-Strike (and possibly Manhunt 2) in private when nobodys watching. He's still a douchebag though and should be shot. :dozey:

Jack Thompson is so stupid it's almost adorable. The fact that he blames video games on EVERY shooting makes it seem like he thinks Video Games are the ONLY cause of violence.

I swear to god, again with this "training" on Counter-Strike BS. Unless he actually went to the trouble of mapping a replica of his own school into there... and even then there's so many other things wrong with it that I won't even bother pointing out because anyone who's actually played the damn thing will already know.

If you're deluded enough to use CS as a learning tool, the only thing it's likely to teach you is that people are still ready and willing to call a worthless fag even after you kill them, so where's the motivation to turn that into a murdering spree?
 
Remember that guy who did make his own school in CS and got arrested for it?

Also, hold the horses for a bit - Wasn't Jack Thompson disbarred?

I really hate Jack Thompson. I don't hate him for his opinions, because everyone can have whatever opinions they want...

It's just when people take those opinions, throw them around like truth, try to damage people's reputations and try and close down businesses all based on a bunch of lies, and just to get themselves famous. It's sickening, and I hope Jack Thompson quietly goes away one day. I don't care how or why. I just want him to no longer exist.

I know if Jack ever read this, he'd immediately assume I meant "I want Jack Thompson to die", because that's what he wants to believe. The fact that he twists everything he reads is another trait I hate about him.

Oh, and lol and LOL!
 
Trouble is, I've been thinking that alot of other people might be thinking the same thing as you, but without the level head. There's bound to be a few gung-ho gamers (inevitably, not saying there's a connection) out there who're sick of Jacko's bullshit and wouldn't mind shutting him up not-so-quietly. Not that I'd care all that much, but it's not exactly going to do gaming any favours. I'm almost inclined to think that's what he's aiming for, not too many people are quite so talented at being a douchebag without a real reason.

Also, those blog posts are so got-damn awesome. :D
 
Well, quite. He's received a few death threats in his time, and that really doesn't help.

Also that recent "OMG GAMARS R EVIL" from that guy that ... you know... the guy. The guy who nobody's ever heard of and nobody cares about. He got some threats from people that disgusted even me. Link.

The whole thing makes me sad, especially as I work in the very industry they're both attacking. :(
