Just Bought HL2 and TF2

Hello everyone,

I am newbie here.

I just bought two games from Steam, Half Life 2 and Team Fortress 2.

I would like to know, am I allow to edit all of the characters in these games in 3ds max, maya, or any 3d software?

If yes, can someone please tell me how to do it?

Also, are these games comes with any editor?

Yes, and yes.

The editor is called the Source SDK, and you should be able to find it in the "Tools" tab of your Steam window. It comes with a Level Editor called Hammer, and helps you to edit the code of the game (though I believe you need separate tools for that, such as Microsoft Visual Studio).

You can also use any of those 3D software tools to edit the models or create new ones. I don't have modelling experience myself, but there are some tutorials on modelling at the Valve Developer Community site that should give you a general overview. If you have any specific questions after browsing through those, then come back and I'm sure someone with more modelling experience can help you.

Yes you can, and many people have made modified models that you can download i.e. nude Alyx.

EDIT: garrysmod.org have some, but make sure they are compatible with HL2 + ep1+2 etc
