That's every bank I've ever heard of plus about 260. Actually, my bank isn't on there.

I just realized all of my money is in Merit Financial!

This country is so ****ed right now.

Last year politicians and the media were refusing to admit we were in a recession. Maybe now that we are on the verge of depression they might start taking recession seriously. Wonderful.

damn if even a few of those banks implode it could mean many families being pushed below the poverty line ..the recession/looming depression is that more poignant seeing as a fairly huge chunk of tax payer money is going to fight a war most americans dont even understand let alone support (except the few bush supporters left)

good thing canadian banks are regulated by the government. there's 6 major banks and only a handful of smaller banks. the good thing is that competition between the main 6 keeps services/client cost effective for bank users ..although they attach a service fee to pretty much everything

btw lol at these two banks:

17. Freddie Mac
16. Fannie Mae

Freddie Mac? Fannie Mae? do they operate out of the trunk of their cars? reminds me of this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1noBLSRZjY

Well luckily the government here insures each account up to $100,000. This started afte the great depression. The problem is I have no idea how the government could afford to insure that much money if more of these banks start failing. It would probably bankrupt our economy.

I usually don't like the prophecies that say we are all ****ed. But this is pretty damn bad and it seems like it's about to get much worse.

I figured if they publicly admitted to their being a recession, people would panic and take all their money out of the banks, which would probably be the last thing they want. Of course, all the people with sense already knew there was a recession, but they're not who we're worried about.

Shit, if you guys go down, you'll end up dragging us down with you. But damn isn't there some sort of protection of your money if the banks do go down.

Man... our war brings about great things. It's quite noble indeed.

Man... our war brings about great things. It's quite noble indeed.
They seem to be doing ok. While our economy is collapsing Iraq is handing out cold hard cash to Iraqis:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/07/13/iraq.money.ap/index.html

It is a politician's dream: Handing out cold, hard cash to people on the street as they plead for help. Iraq's prime minister has been doing just that in recent weeks, doling out Iraqi dinars as an aide trails behind, keeping a tally.

Jon Stewert made this great point last night.

This is why it's ridiculous to vote for the next US president based on their stance on Iraq. The fact of the matter is, no matter how badly McCain wants to stay, within the next few years he'll have no choice but to pull the troops out. Most of our economic hardships stem from sending so much money to that war. Staying in Iraq means that millions of Americans will experience deep, long-lasting hardships and poverty. McCain is sensible enough to understand the repercussions of allowing that to happen under his presidency. The fact of the matter is, we won't be staying in that war much longer, no matter what either candidate says.

So why not go for the guy that wants to pull out sooner? The idea of pulling out hasnt even popped in to McCain's head, yet Obama has a complete plan that will have all troops by no later than 2013. I dont understand why you would advocate voting for the guy that continues to say we will stay there for 100. your position on this doesnt seem to make much sense.

considering the fact that people like McCain still refuse to admit there is even a problem I'm not gonna trust them to come to their senses in time, just my opinion

Both McCain and Obama know little about economics, America is ****ed. Obama may want out of Iraq but plans to spend large amounts of money on health care, he'll be spending when America should be paying off it's debts.

This country is so ****ed right now.

Last year politicians and the media were refusing to admit we were in a recession. Maybe now that we are on the verge of depression they might start taking recession seriously. Wonderful.

America isn't technically in a recession because the volume of money is increasing hence the GDP is increasing. However this is because the Fed is printing too much money not because of economic growth. In reality there has probably been negative economic growth for quite a while but has been hidden by the falling value of the dollar

Being in Iraq is very strategic for any region conflicts. I doubt we will ever leave entirely.

We still have troops in Japan.

Freddie Mac? Fannie Mae? do they operate out of the trunk of their cars?

They're nicknames for the federal home loan mortgage corporation and the federal national mortgage association.
