look at all these, poss. spoilers

I have been liiking at the models, and i just realised just how much extra stuff it in there.

The vortiguants, free and slave all have full attack animations, they have gun weilding animation, animations from hl1, chess playing animations, (lol) they also have death animations via barnacles.

Lol a chefs hat is its own mod
morter sinth and reg sinth, ect ect all complete with attack animations :)

The adviser, even uglier up close :D

Wow, i wonder why these wrnt used?

You actually do catch a glimpse of all this in Black Mesa East, and if you noclip around the level you can see them in action against the combine. Actually, you do see Vortiguants using their Electricity several times (charging you up, welding the gun to the mudskipper etc.)

Mortar Synth and Reg Synth looked ugly IMO. Their role as far off props in the Citadel was a good idea. Curious that their attacks and animations were completed but never seen. It's also very strange that they made all of the advisor model yet only showed its umm... face?

Plenty of games have unused stuff that they just leave in to see if the modmakers will do anything with it. The original Half-Life had a bunch of unused enemies. To name what I remember, there was Mr Friendly, the Chumtoad, the Kingpin and Panthereye, amoung others. Do a google image search for "Chumtoad" and you'll probably be able to see a list of those models.

If you look at all the weapons models, you should see a very interesting one that... well, it tells us why Gman carries that briefcase everywhere, lol.

The gman has animations for weilding everygun imaginable, he is all ready for multyplayer!

BTW They seemed to have done sooo much work on these models, and alot of the animations arnt used, i think they have something else in mind rather then mods....

Yeah thats true they will use them for mods and "other" things but if you think about it once you get sum guy in a suit with loadz of polystyrene balls all over him to hold a gun, the computer makes an image or whatever you want and so once you get a skin of the combine soldier holding a gun, you could easily change it for a skin of the g-man.

Yeah they're being used quite alot in my single player mod, one especially is a major NPC, with you all the way making use of those wonderful animations :D

The vortiguants with that play chess and cook are in BME during the elevator ride.

I beleive it has been stated in other threads that originally Valve was going to have the vortiguants & the rebels fighting with you torwards the end. But they decided the Vortiguants were to powerful to be an allie to use. Maybe they left the animations in so in the expansion pack, if you download it through steam..its a smaller size because alot of stuff is already pre-loaded on your hard drive.

hmm, i dont remember ever seeing vortis holding guns, why would they use guns?

yet the gun animations are there

well, maybe he ment that Vort holding a large turret to be installed in ur boat. :smoking:

actually many of the sequences are designed to fit multiple models, for instance fighting and gun wielding animations are designed for rebels but also fit g-man.

the gun wielding for vortigaunts is when the gun is loaded onto your airboat, if u noclip or look through the window u see the vortigaunt carry it like hes about to shoot someone.

It's humerous to see the G-Man perform the "cower" animation. He hides himself behind his briefcase!

Coward! Come out and fight my vortiguants!

If you download the freindly fire patch/mod, you can shoot the vortiguants, and they'll shoot back, killing you instantly. :D

Would be so cool for value to suprise us with a steam download for no reason......to find out its an expansion pack! :D

Pritty please value :P . LoL that would be such a neat suprise!

Also imagine an expansion playing as G-Man....think that would spoil him though, Mabe it would show who he sells freeman to. A much scaryier, darker being...

I think synth refers to all the bio-vehicles, ie strider, gunship and dropships. The "regular synths" are actualy crab synths, I think.

Actualy, during the elevator right in Black mesa east, if you look out the elevator door you see vortigaunts (in this order)

Playing chess
Cooking
Practicing their energy attack at what seems a target range (along with one human)

Voritgaunt Models in HL2DM would be sweet, i mean they are faceless resistance members right? so it wouldn't ruin the whole resistance vs Combine thing. (Which is why they don't have G-Man, Alyx etc. models in DM.)

how could the vortiguants be too powerful? you face them in hl1...

Perhaps the Nihilanth's mind control collars repressed the Vortigaunts full abilities, in case they ever gained enough free will to turn upon their masters.

I always thought they were powering some kind of generators for Black Mesa East. Natural Vort Energy.

Lol, I reckon Vort powers much better and reliable then Solar or Nuclear power.

Yeah, they were stood in front of some sort of circular generator equipment, both using their vort powers to fix it or test it or something, the human was probably just supervising/watching.

the new Toyota vort-hybrid comes standardly equipped with a vort and a 0 star crash saftey rating.Buy one at our new 1/2 off sale!

rofl actually the "things" they are powering/shootin are the same type of pannels in dark energy when u get the super Grav gun. So maybe they are testing some kinjd of New teleportations thingy????

^ no they're not. THey aer just weird round generators, also they're standing on a railorad track that mysteriously goes right into the elevator.
