looking for more HL

hey ya all

i had my hl2 for little over a year and have hammered the game since then i have played a few spin offs of the game like HL lost coast, coastline to atmosphere, minerva and garrys mod is there any more single player spin offs that anyone knows of and where i can get them from i love the game but its starting to get old
 
played epsiode 1 yet? there arent really any "good" sp mods out right now. they are all poorly made and not well though out.
 
Have you not played Episode One? You should play that! Oh, and welcome t ohl2.net by the way!!! Don't post on the newbies forum. It's not a sensible idea!!! And I should know!:D

Man, I was about to say Substance. There's a "[Something] of Pythagoras" mod, looks like an interesting story if a bit rough around the edges...

Uhuh, that's Mistake of Pythagoras. I've not played it personally, but it has quite some backing, so if you're looking for generic HL2 SP action it's worth a look.

Substance is basically HL2 on crack. My hot tip would be Das Roboss - I thoroughly enjoyed it.

i enjoyed that until i got to the part where like alex died every time and i couldnt kill the wierd shaped object
 
Definitely give Half-life 2: Episode 1 a whirl. Basically, it's a more refined and entertaining HL2.
 
If you haven't played the original Half-Life, this is a good time to do so, it's still fantastic.

I go on the forum almost every day and stay on for several hours!!! Some of my earlier posts were sort of spam BUT I CAN'T BE BANNED FOR THAT NOW!!! :p

Also: not a game, but if you feel like just getting your teeth into more of the HL2 universe, get the art book 'Raising the Bar'. I've got it and it's ace, worth every penny - everyone else here who has bought it seems to love it also.
 
I definitely agree there... Raising the Bar was one of the most enjoyable, interesting reads ever.

It's good, but I found the end a bit annoying TBH. It's defenatly worth a play though.

I recommend Substance over Smod but many people would disagree.
 
Also, the upcoming Black Mesa mod is worth looking forward to...
 
Is there any estimated release date for the Black Mesa mod?
 
According to their 'don't ask these questions' page, late 2007 - early 2008. Ahthough don't hold them to that.
 
Constant posts about post counts will result in them being reset, so lets leave that be please.

Also, Black Mesa is so far off release it's not worth thinking about for now.

Well, its still something to look forward to. People kept looking forward to Half Life 2 even though it was a long way off/delayed.

And I still wait on the edge of my seat for Black Mesa. That mod looks great, and I will say I'm going to play it for quite a while. They really must be hard at work on it....
 
The thing about Black Mesa, it's all going to be HL1, and anything that's changed is a contradiction to HL1 and for some reason that drives me mad.

hey ya

well had great fun playing some of the mods that you all said about but one thing i have just been playing Mistake of Pythagoras (very very strange) and is it me or is there NO way to kill that big thing with the spinning blade at the bottom if its not the endless manhacks that came flying out of it its the poison head crabs i have hit it with a million rockets and nothing anyone have any ideas

Not that extreme mate, but from what some of the devs were hinting on their forums the way you get the hivehand is completly different (though I will admit that just finding it randomly on the floor is a bit boring, but then again, that's how you get almost every other weapon)
 
Mistake Of Pythagoras made me mad so i quit playing heheh

Minerva: Metastasis2 is fantastic and definately worth a play or 2. It includes Metastasis 1 so don't worry about finding that old thing.

just, whatever you do, don't download HalloweenHL2. . .plz. . .
