I've heard that there is a man who apparently shot himself somewhere in Highway 17. I thought he was supposed to be around the buildings near the crane, but I looked around extensively and couldn't find him.

Where is he hiding?

Do you mean Lazlow's buddy? I think when you first see antlions (or at least the first part where you have to avoid stepping on the sand) he's there. I don't know what chapter it's in.

What? Lazlow is the guy who's lying on the sand all like "oh noes" and then he tries to get up but he dun gots pwned.

WHERE IS THIS MYSTERIOUS ELUSIVE MAN OF WHOM I SPEAK?

And his friend, or buddy, says something like, "You go on, there's something I have to do". A lot of people take that to mean that he's gonna shoot himself, or kill himself somehow. I can't remember anything about any other suiciders.

There's not a lot of character models in-game, so you'll see a lot of the same models. I've seen Frohman Model like 50 times in Anticitizen 1.

The suicide dude is somewhere behind a wired fence I think. The fence is near the "highway" in the vecinity of the abandoned house with a gas station, it has a vane or a wind-mill (I don't know the exact word, I'm not english). I might get wrong, I played HL2 last year so I don't recall that good. The house is just before you go to the bridge.

Anyway, as you walk to the highway towards the bridge, there is a wired fence that protects some electrical equipment. You can jump over in the back, and find the dude in a pool of blood with the gun next to him.

I don't have the game on my laptop, maybe someone will upload the screenshot with the place and the dude. :)

It's the outpost right after you get the crossbow.

Behind a propane tank protected by a fence.

The only people who killed themselves in the HL2 games, IIRC, are Lazlo's buddy, the guy behind the propane tank, and a man in a seat in EP2 sitting in a chair with a shotgun. There probably are more, I may have forgot them.

There was another interesting spot in HL2 that I loved, unfortunately I lost my screenshot and I don't have the game. I'll try to describe it though, maybe someone can find the place and upload a picture.

It's in Ravenholm, I think somewhere after the first fast-zombie scene, when you are in that door towards an alley and you hear the zombie first time howling on the roof. I'm not exactly sure. Well, somewhere in that area, in some corner is a wired fence wich has a gap between it and the wall. You can clearly see on the wall a huge blood stain, trails of someone (or perhaps something) that struggled to escape through that gap. I don't know, but for me, that blood stain says a lot! It just shows the desperation of a conscious human being trying to escape whatever creature was following him, OR it shows the madness of an unconscious being (most probably a zombie) relentlessly trying to pass the fence with the price of its flesh...

That blood stain is so cool...

Valve does a good job with that kind of thing. I love to look around at everything that I can, and think of maybe stories that could go with, you know, that blood on the floor next to the fence, or that zombie trapped in the house, or even the recently deceased citizens I may find.

EDIT: Maybe I'll write a fan fiction...

speaking of random dead people, Does anyone remember the dead grunt that is pulled into a dark hole in wallby [maybe] a bullsquid, but his right leg get's caught on the wall, so it completly breaks, bending backwards all the way to the guys head? That thing was greusome AND awesome. Especially the sound the leg breaks. It woud've been ten times better if the grunt was still alive as it's leg bends the wrong way up to his face

it was either in hl1 or hl1: OpFo (i don't remember)

Aren't there people who've hanged themselves in Ravenholm?

I remember dat is scared da hek outa me I turned da flashy light on and i look under there and I see a huge creature and I run and I came at me and i kill it with a Magnum it funny! :D

I was severely creeped out by that when I first played Half Life. I also shined my flashlight in there, saw a bullsquid, and slammed a grenade in there like nobody's buisness. Green paint everywhere.

It was in Half-Life in Power Up.

wasnt that eli?i read somewhere that he lost his leg to a bullsquid

Eli is the black scientist monitoring the computer that explodes near an elevator in Anomalous Materials. He is in the same area in Unforseen Consequences. It's the room with the tubes where you first see headcrabs. He's the first scientist who helps you (by opening a door). He makes no other appearances in Half-Life or its expansions.

The guy who gets dragged by a bullsquid is, A, killed and, B, a soldier.

Hmm opposing force had neat details along with all the other hl games but my favorite is shown in half life 1 the elevator where the scientist falls. also the best is in HL1 in the start if you go back to the front desk after the incident and smash the big door control you can find a scientist on a near broken platoform....if you step on it it breaks sending the guy to his death as he yells at you lol :O hehe:P

You have to smash the door control? I always wondered how to get through there. I had to kill the scientist by noclipping through the blast doors.

Am I the only one who that sandy was gonna rape lazlo's corpse? Not shoot himself?

i know i noclipped the first time too. but remember HL1 likes you smashing things! just like HL2 shows off its physics HL1 shows off the ability to break stuff.
