Menu bug

I run HL2 and it gets past the Valve intro dealie and it goes to the fuzzy background with the loading thing in the corner, but here's my problem, after a while the the loading dealie goes away but the background never goes clear and the New/load etc menu doesn't show up, and I can't alt tab out.

I've ran previously with no issues.

I've had that, something to do with updates... try validating your steam files.

happens to me too sometimes. most of the time if you wait long enough the loading thing comes back and few moments later the screen will become clear and the menu will come up.

this only started happening to me recently too.

ehh i dunno, sometimes it takes like 30 seconds, sometimes it can take a few minutes

it might not be the same problem though. it started happening when i started getting a message to update my drivers or something.

Hmm, when you get this, can you alt tab out of HL2?

Have you tried the validation yet? It's very useful for that kind of problem.

try this....

in your steam "play games" list right click on hl2 and go to "properties" then "launch options" type without"" " -console " then click "ok" and run the game it skips the animated background and gives you the developers console usefull for using downloaded single player maps ie. "leon's map pack" a good map set indeed.... good luck.

The problem still occurs even with the console, its nothing to do with the animated background, an error occurs, then it ceases to load the menu or console.

Yeah, my problems persist, I've tried deleting local game content and redownloading from Valve, didn't help, after it validates, is there supposed to be a message or something? I got it to work once though.
