Im going to edit this post with tnew info as i see fit.


I have no hope of ever being able to make this mod. I brought it to this forum in hopes of finding a group of modders that would be able and willing to do this or something along the lines of me and a few friends idea.

First off I intend this to be a Multiplayer mod.

Characters (or whatever you want to call them):

Humans:
The "average" character.
These are what everything is compared against.
Can use the majority ranged weapons and vehicles (more along the lines of transport vehicles).
Great vision.
Played in First or 3rd Person view.
no special abilites or hinderaces.​
The jack of all trades, but master at none.

Mutant:
the typical slow and strong creature.
It towers over the Human.
Able to lift cars and toss them.
Able to take the most damage.
These (if this can be done) should have bad vision, but notices movement very well.
Played in 3rd or first person​

Advantages:
  1. Regenerate health
  2. Lots of armor and Health
  3. Stongest melee
  4. Can use very large weapons
  5. Can pick up large objects

Disadvantages:
  1. Large target
  2. it is big so it cannot go into small buildings.
  3. Slow

The Psychic :
  1. Evolved Humans that sacrificed strength for intelligence and speed
  2. Slightly smaller than Humans

Advantages:
  1. Psychic Powers such as Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, ect.
  2. Quicker, more agile than humans
  3. able to jump off walls
  4. can jump higher than humans
  5. melee is fast
  6. Ability to drain energy from oppenents dead body for more power
Disadvantages:
  1. Low health and almost no armor
  2. cannot use vehicles
  3. Can only use pisols as a ranged weapons
  4. very weak

Instinctive bug-thing:
Something not human, that is the perfect hunter.
(i really can't explain how it looks, just kinda like the alien in the fact that it is insectiod)​

Advantages:
  1. Very fast
  2. Able to jump very high and far
  3. Body is a weapon
  4. see in the dark
  5. hearing is very good
  6. can climb walls
  7. little stronger than the human

Disadvantages:
  1. Light is amplified outside (so its hard to see)
  2. Loud sounds stun it
  3. lowest health and armor


All character races can be played in 3rd or fist person. Its more of a personal preferance.


Maps:
Large Multi-level maps
supporting buildings, sewers, catacombs, and other little tidbits.
made for large numbers of players
also have smaller maps for small games of friends​

One map idea:

Its in a city, that is war-torn in the center on the city a nuke was dropped there. In the center all there is a crater and it slowly goes to normal the farther you get a way from the center. You can access a tunnel system that runs under the city (catacombs, sewer system). There are little crators that you can access these (previous bombings). this owuld be about 50 years after the bombing that has never been cleaned up. Rubble is still there. Vines are growing up the sides of walls uncontroled, mnay of the builings have large holes that you can go inside. and there should be 2 forms of this map a day and night version.

Gameplay:

Wanted:
  1. Geomod (but creates some rubble)
  2. All objects have the ability to do damage
  3. All objects have mass
  4. Blood loss and vision distortion
  5. good physics

Basic Gameplay:
  1. Fast paced First/third person shooter
  2. Almost all objects are throwable
  3. upgradable weapons (pick up items randomly dropped off of enemies killed)
  4. Psychic get upgrades through draining a dead enemy(over time)
  5. The instinctive bug-thing evolves from kills.
  6. Mutant gets upgrades too
  7. Games are expected to be long
  8. race has special abilities that will be hidden (like Mortal Kombats cool moves)

Weapons:
All of the traditional stuff like pistols, rifles, ect.

Air Rocket:
very loud(stuns the bugs that are near it)
Shoots out a wave of air
not very strong but knocks opponents away or disorients them
no ammo but long charge time

Tranquilizer Rifle:
  1. Long range
  2. low ammo
  3. confuses and drugs opponents(wavy screen, focus, fading, ect)
  4. cannot kill

Rocket Launcher:
  1. Only usable by mutants
  2. Rocket is slow (relatively speaking)
  3. very powerful
  4. low ammo long reload time
  5. can be exploded in mid flight by user

Grenade launcher
  1. strong, very strategic
  2. grenades can stick to most surfaces as they have large spikes
  3. proximity mine, smoke grenade, flashbang
  4. listed above are the different types of ammo

More will be listed at a later date and more will be constructed if this mod gets picked up

Vehicles
As of right now tantamine and I beleive there shoud only be transport vehicles in objective type games

will be updated as I see fit

hey whats up im tantamine one of krymzens friends we thought of the mod idea. but im just here to add a little extra he covered most of the basics but he diddnt go into much detail.

when he talked about mass he ment that everthing has the possibilty to do damage and i meen everthing if it hits u hard enough (here's a example)
Lets say that you and your team mates are driving around in a vechicle and you see a big mutant running down the street so you stop so your team mates can get a better shot because when your driving and the vechicle is bouncing up and down you wont have very good accuracy. so this big thing is running down the street and you open fire and the bullets tear through this thing you don't think you'll kill it in time you blow one off its legs of and its starts to fall over about three meters from your vechicle. you and your team mates start rejoicing over the good kill just as the monsters dead body crashes into your car crushing all inside.

Or lets say that your in a heated battle with a wierd bug thing and it cuts off one of your arms you will not die(yet) u will still be able to shoot it or whatever but then you notise that your screen starts to becom distorted and wavey and to lose focus intill the time when ypu finally die from blood loss.

Hey here are some of the gametypes that me and kymzen have thought of for this game.

Seige, assault, bomb the base whatever you want to call it.

the object like in every game will be to destroy somthing.
you'll have to get into the enemy base and distroy something. But it wont be a walk in the park you will have to complete a series of objectives to get in. like shuting down defence turrets or open big gate after you do this then yo can run in shooting blindly. there are also side objectives that you can do to give your team a slight advantage. For example you could shut off the lights or capture a respawn point.

Death match/Team death match/species death match

Death Match
you now how this works get the most kills and win you will also as krymzen metioned be able to pick up power ups to upgrade strength speed weapons abilities whatever you want. But will only last for the match. so therefore long matches. *power ups are availble in all game types*

Team deathmatch
same rules get to the kill limit and win but all teams start with a respawn point that they cannot lose. ther will be othe nutral respawn points over the map you can capture for your team to give them a advantage

species death match
same as team death match but you will only be on a team with the same species as you. All rules from team death match still apply.

CTF
Now i think that this is cool. each team will start close to each other but not so close that you can run away. one team mate will automaticaly start with the flag. there are a series of different bases around the levels you will first have to plant for flag anywhere within thers bases. if your team mate dies and the flag is droped for too long you will lose(This is all before you plant your flag) after you plant your flag it goes on like a normal game of CTF and no team may pick up there own flag. this will make it so that you have to look for your enemys base instead of allready knowing where it is.

Survival
The object is to be the last person alive. power ups are availble in this game type. the map will start out at its full size but as people start getting eliminated the map will shink thanks to a big quarentine plasma shield. also to eliminate camping if a person is in one spot too long every one in the game will be shown where that person is. this will force them to move in fear for there life. when its down to the last couple of people the map will be small not too small but small enough so they can find each other easly.

I know they are stereotypical, but thats what keeps the game balanced if that makes sense

and another question do you think a mod team would pick this up

Well since i cant edit my first post for some reason i will ad this weapons and vehicles will be semi futuristic in look and feel.
 
I don't know, I have no skill in modding. Post in HW&O section I suppose. And don't ask the lawyer, he's already doing 3 mods!
 
I think your asking alot from the HL2 engine, physics obviously yes, but the AI (e.g. large injured monster falls onto the vehicle and kills everyone inside) would be hard to acheive, a pre rendered event could be used but that's just boring and obvious. IMO i think the 'War-Torn City' scenareo is used to death and just isn't original.
 
i know the map idea is used alot, but i was just giving an idea of how massive the levels would be considering you would be using an upper and lower teir

and i actually half expect alot of that stuff not to get in the game just because it so hard and this would be a multiplayer mod. A.I. unless i am mistaken isn't a very big thing in a multiplayer mod.
