MOD Ideas

What kind of Mods would you like to see to Half-Life 2? Maybe stuff like Matrix, DBZ, Metal Gear Solid (just fisrt things that popped to mind), or something completely origanal (like a Mecha mod) share with us a description and what you would title the MOD.

HLR is already considering switching platforms, they're quite impressed with the vehicular cababilities of the new engine

Also I think we can expect just about anything from Source. Think about how flexible it is, I think we'll see much more than FPS mods around...

I would like to see these mods come to Hl2:

1. Battlefield 1942 mod (since the original game and expansions I payed for sucked ass, using their own engine... but the idea was nice)

2. Original Quake remake (god I would love it

3. The Specialists (ts)

4. Wolf: ET -although it does fairly well in its own engine, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is one of the coolest team based mods I have played... I think the levels could be a lil bigger, the hud needs to be cleaned up a lil and the text system (you get spammed to hell) needs a bit of polish... great mod, but I would love to see something similar in HL2

DOD was fun... in the early versions, now it sucks :/

CS imho inspires the worst in people, being called a cs player is like being called a lamer or an idiot.... and I pray it doesnt come to Hl2
dont get me wrong... its not the mod, its the people who play the mod, its notorious for being a game played by 10-13 year olds.. . theres nothing wrong with that, just not my style.
its the popularity of the game that bred such hacking and cheating... god I hate cheaters, they spoil it for everyone.
I PRAY valve handle anti-cheats much more effectively than in hl1 and its mods.

Just got an insane but kool idea... the toe and finger mod!

this is the toes vs the fingers..

there can bea totalt of 2 toes in each race, out of a 5 races, and each toe race has its own abillities...the biggest are slow, but have heavy damage, and opsite to the smallest toe who is fast yet smaller, and less damage.

the some thing kinda works for the fingers, but they have the abillity to look around corners and such.

The toes is this marine kinda guys.
They have eyes an mouth(on the opposite side of the nail)
they have no arms, but out of the top(under the nail) they can shoot out some goey and discustin stuff
they hav several matrix style moves, powered by thei legs.

The fingers is some kind of shadow creeps, they hide in shadows and sneak around.
They are very quick, but not very strong.

The fingers have also 5 races, and there can be only 2 of each race.

The fingers cannot shoot anything, but they have arms and legs, and are theese matrix uber leets bad asses at kung fu

why remake ET, when there IS ET.

I'd like to see an "Incredible Machine" mod. If you've played the games, you'd know they relied on puzzle solving with physics (sometimes unrealistic). It was addictive fun, and with HL2's physics, entirely possible.

I'd also like to see a cel-shaded ninja/anime mod (not based on an anime, just anime-style). Something like the Animatrix as a base. It would be third person, eschewing the first person shooter view because, well, it wouldn't be a shooter (katana, anyone?). Is this realistic? Ah well.

*edit* Halo mod. Sorry for being a halo fanboy.

well since the thread is about which mods one would like seen REDONE in hl2, I think Im ok..
I have my own ideas, just they arent made... therefore they cant be REDONE in hl2 can they?

a mod where you are placed in the situation of an ordinary citizen who is placed in extraordinary situations and you have to work your way out of it. IE in a bank robbery, some kind of natural disaster (hurricane/earthquake) where you have to use AI character interactions to survive as a group. some kind of car chase, take control of a crashing airplane

I hope there is a good mod that has something to do with zombies. Co-op action where you have to: board up a house, find fuel for a vehicle, survive a once bustling city, etc... Only one enemy: zombies. Possibly have the player's choice to attack other players, but who knows.
Bascially I want to be able to play through a scenario much like Night of the Living Dead. There hasn't been a really good first person shooter that has to do with the "zombie genre."

thats a cool Idea, even if it was done just as a single player mod. If done right it could be freaky.
