My Iguana used to whip me with his tail and scratch the shit out of me. it took many months, but it doesn't whip me anymore and it purposefully holds its feet in a way so as not to scratch me.

When pets attack they think they are defending themselves.. Fighting for their lives even.

I recommend that you treat the cat kindly at all times and kind of give it some space. It should grow to love and trust you.

and regardless, it will always be a little dangerous even when it's playing since it's not declawed.

a friend of mine (not really a friend, just someone I knew) had to "babysit" his girlfriend's pet which was some kind of a reptile, but the creature went completely insane and bit the dude in the wrist. hehe, so the guy locked himself in the bedroom, but forgot his phone to another room so he couldn't call for help and had to wait for his girlfriend to come home

Also, my cat used to scratch the shit out of me, but it wasnt because it was defending itself. Its just how we played. We each took turns sneak attacking each other, and it would turn into a long, drawn out fight that ended in me having ****ed up hands and forarms. Good times. I did have to sleep with my door closed though, otherwise it would do a sneak attack on me while I slept, if I slept too late and it was getting bored.
