no offense to valve, but if I were them I wouldn't even try to post a gold date... as Gabe has said before, "i can't wait until I can pick up a copy of the game in retail stores". I agree, and when I see a copy, and can hold it in my hand.. then that will be my own "gold" date.. when i can go up to the counter and purchase the game, no sooner.

I don't care much for a gold announcement. Since Vivendi can do whatever they want with it(holding onto it for later etc) after its gold, unlike most all games where they release it right after they are all pressed.

When it is gold I will ask when it's going to be released here (my girl works in a music store and they sell games there 2, the owner is really nice guy and gives me discount), so I won't go to the store everyday to see if it's there.

That would be a waste of time imo.

Vivendi wouldn't hold on to it for a period longer then two weeks. Vivendi know this game is a diamond, and they need their share of the profit ASAP.

They would be doing themselves and Valve a favour by distributing it ASAP.

Exactly. I think we'll be the ones to decide what gets closed. Sure, report it, but saying "Close this!" or "in before lock!" will only get yourself into trouble.

Yeah, thats really annoying. If they didn't release a statement saying it would be Gold, a Vivendi employee will then likely to spill the beans.
