My steam keeps trying to update every time i use it ?

hi people can anyone help me my steam keeps trying to update its self the grey box opens saying updateing and nothing happens also i cant get complete server list only get about 100 servers on main list any ideas ???? ;(

I believe this is in the wrong forum. Anyway you have to wait a while as steam updates, shouldn't take more than a minute or so.
