Earlier today, Valve officially released the "Free to Play" Dota 2 documentary to the public for the first time. The film, which lasts around 75 minutes, follows three competitive Dota 2 players, Fear, HyHy, and Dendi, as they prepare to take part in the largest eSporting event to date, The International 2011.

Valve's filmmakers use the documentary to tell the story of how the trio struggled and sacrificed in order to participate in the tournament, an event with the potential to change each of their young lives. Following a successful premiere at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco on March 18th 2014, the film is now to view for free on both Steam and YouTube.

While the Steam version of the film will require a 5GB download, the client does come with a series of additional features, including Steam achievements, trading cards, and several short films which provide a closer behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the film itself and the personalities of the players featured within it. The shorts are slowly being made available on the Valve YouTube channel should you want to check them out without having to download the main client.

According to a press release by Valve, over 600,000 Steam users pre-loaded the film on Steam ahead of the launch. As Valve's first real feature length film, will you be checking out Free to Play to find out what all the fuss is about? Let us know in the comments below. Stay tuned to hear what we have to say about the documentary in our full video review coming later this week.
