Think about it, Nvidia is going down the tubes. They would probably do anything to increase their profits. What better way than to pay Valve a large sum of money and tell them to optimize the game for Nvidia cards, or maybe their upcoming card(s). If they make their video card directly compatible with HL2, and have Valve back them up, their sales would go through the roof. Of course, this may very well not be true. I think Nvidia did something like this with Doom 3, not completely sure though.

Ok, Valve isnt in this for the money ok (well maybe a lil) they're in it because they are gamers and want other gamers to enjoy playing they're game

I made this up myself. Its not that ludicrous, I mean ATI has made 'contributions' to Valve too. This isn't an original theory anyway, only modified a bit.

Uh ATI diddn't make "contributions", they paid 5 million to be able to bundle the game with their 3d cards.

Okay, but is it that far-fetched that Valve delayed the game so as to work better on other chipsets besides ATI?(namely Nvidia). Who knows maybe Nvidia did bribe Valve into making the game work better on their cards. I'm not bashing Valve in any way, just saying that it could *possibly* happen.

actually ATI paid Valve closer to 6 million, and MS pay Valve alot to make the game X-Box exlcusive in the console division. so you could say Valve is money hungry which buisness is buisness. most people would see that large sum of money and like it alot.

this is there job to....how they support there familys and pay there bills.


Its definatly a bonus to love your job....but the bills come first.
