Oblivion Walkthrough Video

it just show places, no quests or story
5 min video

ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Is this from the PC or Xbox 360 version?

PC

This video shows How Oblivion looks on average PCs

• Windows XP pro
• AMD Athlon XP 2200+
• 1024 MT GDR RAM
• ATI Radeon 9800PRO 128 MT

Uhh...I think I'm in line to download it.

We shall see in wartezeit 15 min 18 sek.

It's on rapidshare as well (waiting line 40 secs). I have to say it doesn't spoil very much at all, and Oblivion looks like what you expect it to look like.

Check your PM.

Edit: Actually I should be ok posting the link, but to be on the safe side, here is a link to the link:

What the hell? The first screenshot there is, according to them, with all the detail settings to the max. The terrain on the other side looks crap! Like pre-alpha-leaked-content crap I hope.

No, it says clearly, "Screenshot of Oblivion on a lower-end PC with crappy settings, but high resolution."

Nice video, though I don't know if it were the game that had such a low FPS or something with my player.

Pretty good though.

I'm either waiting in line for the video or waiting in line for the ovens, I can't tell

That video is great. It looks awesome on a computer that's pretty much my spec (but I have less RAM). I'll probably be playing at a lower res with higher graphics settings.

Oh that low settings screen shot looks utterly horrible. I played HL2 once at the lowest settings and it wasn't too bad. But this looks utterly shitty.

If that's the way it looks like on a 9800 Pro (and if it actually doesn't lag like shit without a program in the background creating a video) I'm definetly getting the game.

I have about the specs of the guy in the video (except a 256mb 9800 and an XP 2800+) so I guess that is how my comp will run on high settings, not too bad actually when you add in that he was running a video capture program in the background

**** off it looks awesome for a 9800 pro :p

Here's what my CSS looks like on my 9800 pro:

So Oblivion looks awesome to me. Definately not going to be dissapointed if it runs like that on my computer.
Go play with your HDTV.

Oh my god. My eyes are bleeding.

All settings maxed including AA/AF. Constant 120FPS.

Downloading video at the moment. I'm looking forward to this to see what settings I can play Oblivion at. (A64 2200+, 2GB RAM, 7800GT)

I've ordered new system ^^

AMD 64 4400+
Maxtor 300GB SATA2 16MB Cache
OCZ Plantium DDR2 2GBs

And ill use my Geforce 6800 Ultra

maybe i should give my old system to dekstar........or sell it to someone

Wow, that's how you play CS:S? I own a 9800 pro and it looks a LOT better

It's possible that the guy wasn't running a video capture program in the background. IGN doesn't run any kind of program to get vids. They capture the AV feed directly with other equipment so it doesn't affect performance.

I'd be your friend for life if you gave me your old system.

On the first screenshot it clearly says:

Hochst mogliche Detailstufe - Highest possible level of detail

Second screenshot: Mittlere Standardstufe - Medium standard level

Oh, and Dek is known for being a masochist. I'm running CSS all high, no AA/AF on my overclocked 9550. It looks like this and runs well. I don't know what's Dek's problem, unless he really is a masochist. Anyone can take such a crap screenshot on 2x1900XT if he sets everything to low, it's not like it's the 9800pro's fault.

EDIT: OMG, I just noticed. 39fps in that screenshot. If you really can't run everything on high fine, then maybe it's time to format and get rid of the shit slowing down your PC.

Yeah, you're are right. Maybe he's playing it with DX7, because that is not the highest detail possible.

The article said it was playing with a medium-spec comp on highest details so it isn't looking as good as it can on a lower-end card.

? If it supports the same effects/DX level/shader model , then it should be able to render the same scene, with the only difference being the performance. And the shader model isn't actually responsible for the texture resolution if we're talking about the difference between SM 2.0 and SM 3.0 cards.

I formatted my computer recently (Boot failiure) and I've only got CSS installed. Still getting the same performance. Oh and I'm overclocking EVERYTHING on my computer that can be. 1.9Ghz amd xp2500+, 512mb of Corsair RAM set to Aggressive timings (3,2,2 I think). Graphics card clocks at 402 and 388 (Core / Mem respectively). So yeah. I get terrible reg at any settings above mat_picmip 4, which is why I have it like that.

Before people start panicking about how it may or may not run on their machines and planning urgent upgrades, wait and give it a chance on your existing rig - it might run fine. BF2 runs like a moose full of bricks on my PC, but FEAR is smooooth. go figure.
I mean it's only a coupla days to wait, impress Buddha and have some patience.

Hear hear. Finally a voice of reason. So what if you have to run the game at 4AA instead of 16AA, the world will keep going round. Not being able to run a game at max is not the end of the world. Enjoy your loved ones for the next two days, so that they may remember you as you were before Oblivion came out: a free man not chained to his PC trying to squeeze every single frame rate out of a game rather than enjoying the game.

PS: Post does not apply to consol folk:imu: :imu:

Games are hard to enjoy when their below 25 fps.

lol I remember the days of Elite on the c64, that ran at around 5 fps (at best) and is still one of the best games i've ever played. Methinks people are too picky when it comes to numbers these days :p

Umm... there wasnt really any animation back then. It was a few pixels running around the screen.

You didnt need a high FPS.
