Odd error with IE + University computer

Using a computer on my University campus right now and it wouldn't let me log in until I checked the remember me box. I logged in several times, each time bringing me to the screen that thanks you for logging in and redirects me to the index, but then I'm still not logged in. It only kept me logged in when I checked the remember me box. Anyone know enough about this sort of thing to know what's going on (I tried to open up the cookie browser to see if there was anything there but the Menu bar is locked as this is a uni computer)
