It would be worth another week if you guys added some better ways of voice communication.
So, could you guys add the power for the server admin of any given server to change the voice codec or to turn off voice altogether so we don't have to suffer when people waste the bandwidth by holding their mic key down.
Cause it really lags the server. We need a turnoff switch and a way to adjust how much data of the voice gets sent out to increase the signal or decrease it.

Because I know that Valve does look at these forums. This is being pointed to them. However, I would love people to respond to this and to get your opinion

Are you talking to Valve? Heh.

E-mail them if you want to ask them questions or give suggestions. But I seriously doubt they're going to change anything at this late of a date.

With Steam, they don't have to change what they have. They could just wait a week. However, it would be worth a week to get this addon.

They need to put something like ALOHA in so that it sends data only when there is data to send.

I say Valve creates a program that uses little resources and is voice program that runs off a whole seperate server instead of ingame talk that allows you to have a friendlist and talk to only who you want to hear and admins can configure this server to set it so you onloy hear people on your friendlist speak that are on your team or were it all talk or just whoevers on your team.

I dotn expereince any lag when people hold down the keys... at least i dont think so..

Maybe it's already been integrated? I'm guessing Steam will get a huge update when HL2 is released. Hooge.

in the options in steam you can chose to have voice enabled or disabled... if you dont want it to use your band width disable it... also just muting the player will stop them using your bandwidth... there is no need for a server to disable it... the individual can...

Another problem solved...

I believe it is possible to do both those things you mentioned, on the current cs servers.
