When the Nova labs were destroyed they were done so by a mysterious fire, the cause of which wasn't explained. Perhaps an opposing group against WAR decided to destroy the place and took the Nova plans for themselves before destroying it, all while the 2097 tournament took place. The group of which who did and for what purpose they stole the plans, god only knows. Iron Fist? A WAR splinter group? Someone else?

So who's in?

The Current Plan:

Quoted from Page six, of One Must Fall: Destiny topic, from OMF.com's Forums

By what Sabotage has sent me, I have a plan.

Vuen, do you still have those models? If so, could you get me Jag and Thorn? Those two would be the easiest to program, for a beta.

My Sound/Music specialist will be making OMF:2097's theme. And Power Plant's. OR if that does not work out, I still have the original music! But not the sound tho. I have the game, but don't know how to rip

The movesets will be straight from OMF:2097. That means no high kick, high punch, ect. Just barebone.

And hopefully the fighting style will be 2.5d, instead of OMF's 2D. But then again, its just a beta.

I will need a mapper, for I cant map that well yet. Map, of course will be Power Plant.

Also a programmer and an animator, for their moves and what not.

Sounds good?

Quote from Rob Elam

Yea, I don't have a problem with this type of thing being done, sounds interesting, as long as it's not a commercial endeavor and it's made clear that it's not 'official' (can't use my name or company name).

What the heck is a HAR? What are you talking about?

You're going to need some serious animators and coders to get this thing underway. What's your experience with developing mods?

Okay I get it. Now my question is how did you choose source to recreate a DOS fighting game?

There's definitely more recent versions (or at least a more recent version) of OMF since the DOS versions, my roommate was playing one in full 3d that looked as if it had been made in the past five or six years.

Well I was with Relic's BR Mod Team. And I can map, well with UnrealEd... But not that well, just enough to get around.

Well, for starters, One Must Fall: Battlegrounds did NOT cut it. I'm bringing it back, the way it's spoused to be like. Destiny takes place in the year 2110. The pilots from 2097, will be back, and you get to create your own, kinda like Soul Calibur 3's player creator. You get to choose the look of your pilot, and the colors of your HAR. The HARs, one the other hand, will be from both 2097 and Battlegrounds.

And how are you going to use Source for 2.5D?

Well, Someone was *trying* to develop a fighting mod on Source. They were kinda successful. But they gave up on Source, and moved to UnrealED, for better graffics. By 2.5D, I mean this:

And plus, anything can be done to any game engine. But the question is..

That be Battlegrounds.

Which fighting mod was beeing developed on source? How far into development did they get. They just decided to scap all the work and start again on a new engine?

I believe it was something like big robots with weapons. They got the models downpat, and the script sorta ready for an alpha relice. Then they scraped all their Source work, and went to Unreal Tournament 3 for the graffics. Not a word from them since... I believe they wanted to do Gundams in source, and then scraped that when they went to UT3

Wait, so a HAR is a pilot ?
oh, and i can tell you that soul caliber is 3D.
Its a beat-um up, wich has gameplay mostly from right to left or the otherway around, its rendered in 3D though.
calling it 2.5D is impossible, you cant have half of 1 of the axis.
If there's any thing i'd call 2,5D its Ragnarok.

Oh and like someone here ever said, Source deals with damage like bullets, the crowbar is a delayed pistol with a short range. This isnt the right engine for a melee based mod.

You'll definitely need a good coder for this one :p

And Cease & Desist protection.
EDIT: Seems like you got the last, now just the first lol

PVK II seem to be doing alright with it, since they just implemented code that detects at which point in a diagonal weapon swing a move can be successfully blocked, etc.

Wait, so a HAR is a pilot?

No A HAR is a Human Assisted Robot. A pilot is who controls it. Their brain is "digitally linked" to the robot.

Your somewhat right. Soul Calibur is 3D, but you do not move 8 ways, as seen in the video. This is called 2.5D Fighting. Or at least what my sources said.

Anything can be done to any engine. I mean look at Chaos UT's Melee mode...

I think ahead.
