Hey guys...

I'm new here... :D Have been messing around with halflife ever since it got out... :D

I found an old version / cd pack called Halflife Generation... It contains HL1, CS, BlueShift and Opposing Force...

Now... I have the Orange Box installed so therefore i have HL1: Source... and every time i put the CD with Opposing Force in, it says that i don't have HL1 installed... I tried searching Google for this but all i managed to find was a steam opposing force installer witch didn't work...

I'm running blind here... I really want to try this cool game once more... Anybody out there with an option to solve this... :D

Over and out

You have to install the Half-Life on the Generation disk. Opposing Force is not compatible with Half-Life Source as it's still based on the original Half-Life engine. So put the Half-Life disc in, install it, then install opposing force. You should also play Blue Shift that's also good.

Orrh crap... The Generation box is missing CS and HL disc... is there any other way ?

Do you still have the keys? If you have a Half-Life key you can register it on Steam and it'll let you download it.

Nopes... It's well seen better days the case... it's bearely holding together... and only contains well Op Force and BS...

I'm f***** aren't I ?

Well... i have the Op Force CD... can't i do something with that ?

You can buy these games of Steam for really cheap.

I have my Half-life Generation box still! Checking inside it, I have 4 discs for Half-life, Opposing Force, Counter Strike and Blue Shift.

Looking at the discs, none of them have a CD key on them, nor is it on the case. However the user manual inside has the keys on them you need to register the games with.

If you had this key you could put it into Steam, and download all 4 games within the hour, fully updated and ready to play. You wouldn't even need the discs. What I'm trying to say is that despite having your OP and BS disc they are useless without the CD Key.

Have you ever made a Steam account before in the past? And possibly registered the key?

If not, you may as well bin it, sorry.

yeah buy the games, and that way you'll have them longer than your life!! true immortality is among us

The problem you have are that Blue Shift and Opposing Force are expansions, thus they need the original Half-Life to work. It's just like the Sims with out the original you can't install the expansions.

hmm... okay thanks guys...

I have a Steam account, but that only contains the Orange Box games... I got the Generation box before Valve even concidered making Steam.... or something like that...

No, both on Steam and WON they are standalone. Opposing Force WON has the ability to be installed as a mod though.
