Paintballing yesterday, f*cking rocked. There was about 30 people, divided into red and blue. I was on red and we won 3-1. There were 4 games, they both had attack and defence so overall there were 8 rounds. TBH I was rather useless in the first game, in both attack and defence I just shot randomly in the direction of the other team and/or hid. The second game was defending a wall and the defending part scared the shit out of me. I could see paintballs flying past my head and hitting the wall in front of me sending dirt flying into the air. Then their was the fort, the only game we lost. About 8 from the other team stormed very fast (to win, you just had to get one guy inside) which the guys overseeing us said was the first time it ever happened, every other time they'd done it it was always one guy who managed to get in alone.

But the best thing was the capture the flag. Basicly the flag was in front of a bunch of tarpaulin barriers (shown below). First was defending. Me and my dad were at one of the further back barriers and we shot the shit out of anyone trying to advance. Also my friend Brian was behind one of the barriers but the bottom of it was off the ground and exposed his legs, I shot him about 4 times in the legs (my aim had dramaticaly improved by then). Then a guy shot me twice in the groin.

In attacking me, my dad, my brother and my friend Stephen moved from barrier to barrier together actualy giving eachother covering fire and stuff. It was really intense. In the end we won by 10 seconds when my other friend, Matthew got to the flag (if blue had won it would had been a draw! D:)

You should have videoed that on a head-mounted video cam. That would be more awesome than reading. :P

yeah paintball is hella fun
the accuracy of the guns can be hilarious at times

Yeah, paintballing is hella fun. The first time I played, a guy on the Blue team was one of those people that came paintballing every month. He had a scope on his weapon n' all. He sniped me through a small crack in a fence. Got me right in the theigh, hurt like hell.

Going again in 2 months. :D

EDIT: Well, ain't that a co-ince-e-dence.

I really want to go paintballing, there's a place near me. But me and my mates are all really bad at organising stuff so we get to the point where we say we all want to go and then nothing happens.

meh I used to tourny ball, shame my team pritty much folded :(

I'm going this Wednesday as my Going Away Party.

My friend is also giving me the modified stingray 2 he has, well, I bought it.

I love paintballing, but I cant wear my glasses under the mask and I dont have contacts, so I tend to end up curled up in the fetal position screaming OH GOD NOOO!!

I get kinda carried away.

i love paintballing. i played with 30 v 30 at a marine corps recruiting thing yesterday. it was pretty much madness. and yes i got lit up but i took a few with me.

It is a cool sport. I went a few times and loved it. Only part I don't like is the next morning I woke up with sooo many bruises it was not funny. Also try not to get hit in the face mask with a paintball because you will inhale all of the paint. Don't ask how I know this lol.

hey Shippi, real life happened to my team.

One guy got married, and is now finishing his pHD and trying to get states side (wife is US)

One guy quit his pHD and is looking for money, also he wasn't enjoying it as much.

One guy bought a house

One guy had his 3rd!!! kid

etc etc

Top it off with me, I got really busy at work, pushing for a pHD myself, and I broke up with my GF which took the wind outta my sails so to speak.

Kinda wanna get back into pb though, not going to the Dynasty clinic though as I need to get my bottle tested (did go the XSV clinic and gave T-Troll a lift back, was wicked fun)

I've always wanted to try paintballing but I never got round to it. There isn't really any decent places near me anyway. If I ever did go, it would cost an arm and a leg to hire everything and pay for travel costs (ferry etc, I live on an Island) and the site would probably be crap anyways :P

Thats why I play airsoft! Also going to a 3 day game in august where about 500 people have booked. :)

Anyways, I dont mean to force the thread off topic. Is there a real difference between paintball and airsoft? I've never been paintballing so I wouldn't know.

First time i went paintballing i got shot in the cock......3 times, they couldn't miss to be fair ;)
I prefer airsofting for realism and tactics but paintballing has a much bigger base so more centres and players.....more fun.
I wish there was a mix of the two, pain and easy identification of paintball combined with accuracy, realism and tactics of airsoft.

There are those awesome military cartridge powered paintball guns (real guns) but for some reason i don't think they'd be a possibility :D

I'm thinking of actually trying to get organised to go. How many people would I want to be thinking about for a day of paintball? I really have no idea.

Raxxman, don't you wear anymore headgear than that? Whenever I go, I always wear a hoody underneith the overalls so I can put them up, then I put a beanie hat over the hood so the back of my head is padded pretty well. Warm yes, but it beats the hell out of getting shot in the head. I know headshots aren't allowed, but thats a little hard to keep track of when the paintballs are flying from a long distance.

Jangle, I've been with parties of 8 to 14, but we've then been added to bigger groups of people who are there also. The first time, when there was 8 of us, we were added to a group of around 30, and the last time, when there was 14 of us, 7 more people were added, and it was split up from that. Bearing in mind the first place I went to was a bigger, more popular paintballing arena and the last was a not so big company.

At least 8..

TheBleeding in a tourny you have a layer limit of 2 single thickness layers. It's a bit different to playing out in a game, we're shooting in general a lot more paint (I shoot between 500-600 a game as a front player, with backs in the 1000's) and you generally expect to get shot n accept it. It's part of the fun and with adrenaline going you hardly feel it.

*edit* I use a throat protector cause that can hurt a lot I also use shoulder pads, elbow pads and slide shorts, but that's more to stop me from hurting myself when I go from full tilt run to bouncing off the turf :)

Jangle, depends if you want to play by yourself (as many as possible) or with other people so you're in a group (bout 4 or 5 only needed as more you get a bit disorganised)

Ohhh, I see. I thought you're clothing looked a little different to the standard fatigues we get given. I use about 100 each round, so I usually buy 600. Well, you get 500 free, so I buy another 100 or so. Never played in a tourny, but it sounds pretty cool.

Awaken, my pretty thread!

Now come on, you cant say Tournament Paintball ISNT cool. Hate Woods/Recball. HECK, ITS BIGGER THAN RUGBY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

Personally as a mid player i get through about 4 pots and a hopper a game. My main job though is to relay info from the back players who are standing up and can see more, to the front players who are generally in the s*** with their noses in the dirt, being shot at by 4 people or more. I also coordinate any game-breaking plays and generally make sure everyone is in their right place during the game. Its hard work.

200(ish) in hopper, 200(ish) in a pot. 200 x 5 = 1000 paintballs a game (ish) lol at a rate of 15.4 balls per second. Gotta love the Eclipse 05 Ego!

I like Woodsball because you get shit like trenches, buildings, muddy rivers, craters, ruins, sandbag emplacements and all sorts of war-like stuff. From what I've seen of Speed/Tournyball, you don't get any of that. Don't get me wrong, Speed/Tourny looks hella fun, but I haven't got the money for all that gear and amount of paintballs, so the every 2 month game I have with teams from our school in Woodsball satisfies me. Alot, actually. Another coming up this Febuary. :D 15 v. 15 in Cosford, going to be stupid amounts of fun.

So want to try this. I know a few people who are keen but probably not enough for a proper game. How many is normally minimum?

EDIT: Read what you said wrong.

New Edit: There's no minimum at most centres, they'll just put you and your mates into another game that is starting up. If 12 people go, then another 7 are waiting, then you and 3 mates arrive you'll all be lumped together and split up. What's happened to me anyway. By the end of the first few rounds you're laughing and joking with the other people anyway. It's a really social game.

Cool, thought that might be the case, just not sure who, if anyone, will be there at the place around here :)

Agreed. Most sites you can just show up on the day by yourself and get thrown into a group already there (depends on the company and the group - i.e. if theyre happy for you to join in or not).

I tend to go to Adrenalin Games where i work as a marshal some weekends when im not asked to work and just join in with a group of 10 or so...kick some ass, have a laugh, im always the 'white mask guy'. Tend to hear them scream 'the guy with the white mask is on the right by that car' or whatever. My visor(s):

Its really social. Sure it hurts, but only for a few seconds. Your adrenalin is so high you hardly feel it anyway. You have a good laugh with mates, and potentially meet new people.

I do remember though when playing Xball, where there is no rule as to the minimum distance where you can shoot someone from - basicly you can blast someone at point blank as you run past them or something (Bunkering), i got bunkered from the left and right at the SAME TIME as i stood up over my barricade to fight back. Got shot in the pack from the right (sportsmanship when you bunker someone) but got 3 in a row in almost the same spot from the guy on the left. Didnt hurt until i entered the dead box 10 or so seconds later. It was like someone was cutting my arm lol.

Have plenty of scars/welts on my body due to xball and tournament paintball. Love it though.

Going to be playing paintball in the summer with my bro and some friends.

This is the gun that I bought.

At ours, a whole range of people show up. We had some pilots from the Royal Air Force there (the RAF base in Cosford is practiaully next door to the place), guys from an office buisness, teenagers, kids of about 12 or so, me and my mates from school (16-17) and, luckily for our team, some actual British Army infantry men. :P It's really good fun paintballing. I can't wait til Feb.

Speaking of visors and guns, the only bad point I have about not coughing up loads of doh for Tourny Ball games and the like is that the equipment for most Woodsball companies is sometimes pretty dire. The weapons can be a real bastard sometimes - jamming up, some are stuck to auto-fire, some not, etc. And the visors... oy vey, getting steamed up or shot in the face at the start of the game (headshots don't count unless you all agree at the start of the game). Cannot see SHIT! Annoying. Hopefully, when I join the TA, I'll use my extra money to getting some equipment and then maybe start playing more frequently. :D

Got a game booked for next week :P

Anybody else here play national leauges? I play the NPPL division 2 over here in the US.

Played a tourney sunday, fun stuff :D itching to play again now but I can't make it to training or the tourney next month cause I'm going on a college trip :( grrrrr I need to shoot people

I think I'm gonna get an Angel a1 asap :D

edit: Those eVents are damn sexy. I've got some black grillz but I'm tempted to go for white eVents too, I can't resist..

Heh white is the new black!

Only problem - they dont stay white forever. That was how they looked before i started playing, now they have a green, blue and small pink stains on them where i forgot to clean them between games. Never leave goggles covered in paint in your bag for a month or so hehe, my white Invisions are fooked over with stains now.

Ill treat my sexy eVents better though hehe.

Meh, it'll be my first time playing.
The gun was suggested by some friends, and I've got a box of monster balls... they were cheap, only $20 for a box of 2,000.

Lol shhh dont tell the punters how much a box of paint ACTUALLY costs haha.

[Edit] Wait, first time playing paintball or tourney ball?

Playing with a group of 16 mates next weekend, gonna be class. Last time we played against a team comprised solely of Bristol chavs... needless to say they attempted to cheat at any given opportunity, one even led on the flag when we rushed them all, so he got a swift shot to the ball sack and had to be stretchered off... good times :D
