Maybe if we all start one or sign up somewhere to get the game released by xmas. Or if we demand a response from Valve.. they will give one.
Anybody have an idea or thoughts to this?

Numbers speak.. why do you think people vote?

Valve recieves thousends of emails a week most likely and they reply to many of them. At least they used to until recently quite understandably

Valve is very good on the side of communication. Please just give them a chance to figure out what to say :)
 
this is just as likely to occur as that petition against steam.....not gonna happen dude, live with it!
 
What if.. we say that we want them shipping it to stores only.. (since Steam is jacked up last I heard) and then have updates Via Steam.
Maybe their projections to who actually would download it from Steam are all wrong.
That way they could work on the security of steam and we could play the game off of CD.
Just Mulitplayer could take a hit, and Single player wouldnt.
 
What if... you wait for them to release it when they're ready and realize that petitions do jack-shit.
 
Actually.... Petitions get Governors recalled.... Petitions get annoying phone calls from Telemarketers banned.... seen the news lately?

actually that does'nt concern games ever heard of game coming out early because of some stupid petition...sheesh what planet do you live on??
 
Let me put it this way..

I only wish more game companies cared as much about communication as Valve does. Go send an email to CCP of EVE-Online and see how long it takes to get even a copy-paste response.

Give them some time, stuff like this doesn't happen everyday, they're probably still trying to figure out just what to do.

Online petitions for games do jack-shit, and you know it. What the hell does VALVe care if 100k people want a statement from them? Nothing. They'll do what they want when they want to, and that's that.

I was talking about this site.. I know if I sent anything to Valve it probably wouldnt get read.
I was thinking of the moderators putting up some bar graph of something to see how people stand..

and maybe if Valve took a peek on here... it just might have an effect on them
 
They know everyone wants a statement from them, it's impossible for them NOT to know. And of course if they came to an HL2 forum they should expect that everyone here is raving for information regarding the game.

why? i'd rather wait till 2006 if it means the game would be the best it can.

Tell that to all the guys that upgraded their PC's so that they would be able to play this game on Sept. 30th!

Valve should have waited to release the "Release Date" .. ATI should have waited to release press on their cards

Where did I ever say I wasn't enthusiastic about the game? I would have loved it to come out on the 30th. I'd like it to come out ASAP.

I'm just stating a fact, though. Many people learned not to upgrade for a specific game with Halo PC before it got switched to XBox. It's something that happened then, is happening now, and will happen in the future. It could be avoided if the person just waited for a 'Gold' statement or waited for the game to be on shelf.
 
Valve said they wouldnt release a Gold Statement.
Maybe thats why the Fackers did what they did.
 
Halo PC is a different story. Bungie informed the PC crowd in advance unlike Valve that waited a week before the official release date.
 
Many people upgraded for Halo, and while HL2 isn't getting switched to XBox, it's still the same overall idea. They upgraded before they found out exactly what was going on.

And I'm almost positive someone posted an e-mailed reply from Gabe saying they would definately release a Gold statement when the game goes gold.
 
That still doesn't give you the right to judge these gamers. Valve insisted that they are close to the community, yet they failed to keep everyone from making the mistake of upgrading their PC's too soon.

I'm not defending Valve with their lack of updates, but a) there were clues that it wouldn't be released on time, such as multiple interviews where, when asked about the release date, they replied, "No comment." and b) if you're going to spend a few hundred dollars to upgrade something for a specific purpose (in this case HL2) then it would make sense to wait for the last moment to get the best deal and so that you don't get screwed by a delay.
 
I say that STEAMing pile of sh*t is to blame for all this delay stuff :P People have got more upset over smaller things, maybe steam tweaked a nerve in Gabe's nut and now he is unable to speak anymore.

Only joking, don't start crying ok. This community is 90% female,you bitch and whine about pretty much everything. ;)
 
It is Valve's game and it is Valve's releasedate. Meaning: They can do with them what they like. End of story.
 
If we get enough sigs, the code will pretty much write itself and magically appear on the shelves during the holidays!

Forget skill, effort, appraisal, time, money, and re-writes, if enough basement-dwelling nerds, geeks, and spoilt kids get together, they ****MUST**** release the game!!

Or quite possibly, not.
 
Lets say that if that Beta or whatever its now called , gets around more and more and more people will have it... in six months.. a good chunk will have it. Thats how many paying customers that would have bought but arent now?

Somebody right now is playing it...illegally or what ever that may be.

How does that make you feel?
