Please Help Newbie Create/Copy Overwatch

I know I'm new, and not all that computer literate, but I am going nuts trying to figure out how to make my own server, take Overwatch or Lockdown as me as admin, and then MAYBE even tweaking it a bit, adding feature. I dont know the lingo yet...like the difference between a mod and a map. I've looking into SDK (i think thats right) and am confused.

Would someone, COULD someone, either write out in Newb Langauge or point me to a clear site that explains this process?

Probably some weapons or something, I've seen a few people do that on lockdown maps, too.

I can't help you, I've never touched the SDK, lol.

I just want to have a server - with overwatch and lockdown on it. I know people are admin to them, but not sure how to start the process.

Firstly, do you want to use a dedicated server or listen server?
Dedicated server = A machine that just runs the server, not the game itself
Listen server = You run the server on the machine you are playing on

He'll probably want to use a listen server. You can do this by starting the game, and selecting to start a new server. Then you can customize the name of the server and the maps.

Beerdude...thanks for all the work you put into your reply in email. I spent the evening setting it up...mostly sucessfully. That had to take you a ton of time.

I was able to play on my own server, and how do I post it so others see it on the list, and can join in?

OF COURSE! I'm absolutely sorry that I forgot!
You need to enter a few commands into the console (= a window that you can enter certain game commands in, such as sv_cheats 1 and other game affecting things)

In game : Press the tilde (~) key to bring up the console. If that doesn't work, go to Options --> Keyboard --> Advanced --> 'Enable developer console (~)' . If you still can't bring it up, follow this tutorial I once wrote (It's actually designed to learn you how to freeze/unfreeze objects in the game, another cool HL2 trick, but just follow it until you've finished the console part.)
Now, you'll have to type in these commands :
sv_lan 0 (1=LAN-game , 0=Internet-game)
sv_region 0 (0=All regions, other numbers=America/Europe/Asia/Etc.)

After typing sv_lan 0 you should see a message that appears in the console saying : 'Connection to Steam servers succesful.', which means your server is now available in the internet list.

EDIT : Here's a list of most of the commands of the console. You can mess around with 'em after typing sv_cheats 1. But be careful, some commands might crash your game!

OK...got it to the LAN server...all by itself. Is there any way to get it to the internet server? I don't have a dedicated server.

AND, where do i find that list of console comands? I"m going to google it and give it a shot.

OK...almost there.

Still cant see my server on the "internet" tab in deathmatch.

Console says:
Missing Vgui material vgui/servers/icon_secure_deny

I type in sv_lan 1 or sv_lan 0 and only am on the lan tab.

How do i get to post my little server on the internet, so i can play others?

That's a standard error, happens with everyone.

Did you type it in before you started the server? You should type in sv_lan 0 and sv_region 0 before you start the server, otherwise it won't work. Sorry about that, forgot again
