Predictions on HL2 release date

Voted July, but only because of the recent HL2 coverage and lots of things going on (SDK, E3, etc). That's just my wishful thinking, but who knows, like McDonalds used to say, "hey, it can happen"!

You were dreaming... The release date is "Summer" right now. You probably say August on a website somewhere... Anything that comes from anyone buy Valve is purly speculation.

From what we've seen lately, I'd have to say anything that comes from Valve is purly speculation too.

Chronos. That has been discused several times. Look in the email thread. They have also said Summer about 100,000 times too.


I don't know what to say except that you dont have to believe valve that it will be out this summer. But I dont think they would make the same mistake twice.

i voted for august. it seems pretty reasonable because the only time i'll really be home this summer is late august, which happens to be when school starts. :'( but eh august:thumbs: :|

I'm thinking July. If you look at gamespot, their release date is simply "2004" and I thought that was funny.

I reckon it'll be expected by October/November but will slip into early next year and then finally come out. I've seen this story before. It's what always happens. The developer makes an optimistic prediction early in the year that their game will be out in autumn. Then it slips and nobody is sure when it will come out although the developers say 'probably early next year'. It slips again, until nobody knows when it will come out. This may continue for several years or just one until one winter it's finally going to come out. Then it slips and comes out early spring of the next year.

Mark my words...okay I'm probably wrong only this is what has happened to loads of big games.

Check out the thread regarding the student trip to Valve. That is the biggest clue yet to a summer release. The game will probably be going gold in early-mid June and then however long it takes to distribute and then release.

My initial prediction of June was perhaps marginally too early. Early July me thinks.

They already did. The original Half-Life was delayed a year.
