problem in starting a new game

I bought the cd Half life 2 : episode 1 and when I'm starting a new game in half life 2.. nothing happened .. it just stay in main menu .. but! half life 2 : episode 1 just works that it should be... please help..

Maybe you should just reinstall it. That always seems to fix programs when they aren't working.
