I know! Its incredible! But in regards to the next gen PC hardware quote, there's an interview with the guys on the Offset team in the new Game Informer (US) and they say the system they are running it on is equipped with an FX-55 (or 57 I can't remember, but its not a 60) and a 7800 GT(X?). They didn't mention anything about SLI or mega RAM or anything, so as long as you have a relatively fast processor and a releatively recent video card, you should have no trouble. And this is before optimization of course, but also before the whole game is put together, so its hard to say in the end what the requirements will be. By the time it comes out, though, 7800s should be much cheaper than they are now though. :thumbs:CptStern said:"The game is targeted for next gen PC hardware. Xbox360 and PS3 are also possible and we are excited about bringing Project Offset to these platforms."
physics card? dx10?
geez have you seen the video of the crowd test?

wow imagine a city seige with that many characters attacking ..or a beach landing where hundreds of players storm the beaches
I fear that's not the case since Red 5 Studios is pretty small, but still, they surely have a bunch of money from their WoW fame and maybe, like Valve's Gabe Newell did, put a bunch of their own money behind the development of this new title, knowing that they would likely be able to get much of it returned, esp if digital distro is involved. I guess we'll see....Raziel-Jcd said:Very cool for the offset guys. Hope they got a good deal of cash![]()
Its interesting that since there are no PPUs available yet (accoridning to you), how in the world is the GRAW team putting in the functionality to take advantage of such hardware in their title? Same with the tech demo for Crysis--running with a PPU and SLIed 7800s supposedly. The point is that yes, the requirements for a full game in the future will likely be higher than current standards, esp for a tech demo. If a game comes out in late 2007, the minimum specs will be higher than minimum specs of today, just as high-end then will blow away high-end now. I trust that they will keep abreast of current technology and implement, like ID did with Doom3, with a forward-thinking attitude that allows lower-end systems to run the game, but in order for it to be seen in its full glory, the technology isn't even available yet! Something along those lines...still nice to hear that they have the engine up and running on a not-all-that-high-end piece of hardware right now though. That's all.CptStern said:ya but since there's no physics card of DX10 cards available they're probably testing with waht's current ..once the implement dx10 features it should raise the bar for sys requirements
Nope, iirc its for the PC too and with good reason!CptStern said:I thought that graw was implementing that in the xbox360 version only?
Definitely. Nothing for us consumers to purchase, but devs have been working with them for months...lucky buggers!CptStern said:but there is a working phys-x card out there because I remember a news story of a developer working with it
Keyword: "a" hl2 build. Not the final build, but just "a" build. It ran damn near highest levels(though not highest resolution) on my pc with my 9800 pro, butCptStern said:as an example to support my case ..I remember valve saying they ran a hl2 build on a 9800 pro at highest levels ..but when the game shipped I couldnt turn on all the eye candy without taking a major performance hit
The Phys-X cards are actually for the most part completed. The only thing there doing now is waiting until more games support them before shipping them. Alll UE3 engine games should have support plus Rise of Legends, City of Villians already does, and more games as they come out.but there is a working phys-x card out there because I remember a news story of a developer working with it
