Question about Steam

If I'm downloading something with Steam and I hit cancel then does it save the stuff I've downloaded and continue from that point the next time I start it up? I'm asking because it would probably take me half a day to download LC with my connection.

Yes, Steam resumes downloads. If you quit Steam and start it tomorrow, it will continue the download. Also, there is "Pause updating" in the context menu of each game.
