What are your favourite relaxing songs? At the moment mine would have to be Joe Satriani's Brother John because it has some beautiful guitar playing and the pacing is just perfect for chilling.

Aim - Cold Water Music

Massive Attack - Teardrop

Unkle - Lonely Soul

FC Kahuna - Hayling

David Holmes - Rodney Yates (Ocean's Eleven music is awesome)

Armin Van Buuren & Nadia Ali - Who Is Watching

Incubus - 11am

Hoobastank - More Than A Memory

Dire Straits - On Every Street (Guitar solo is unbelievably chilled)

Probably some more that ive missed but theres a few i skimmed through quickly.

everything by air, BoC, and zero 7 not to mention all forms of post rock and relaxing techno as well.

And good list there dynasty, I love that aim, hoobastank and incubus songs, they're so chilling, ice would be forming on my ears...

Awesome moment: Listening to all of Campfire Headphrase in bed, then drifting off just as Farewell Fire does.

Helios' Eingya album. Think Boards of Canada mixed with Four Tet.

I wanna say BoC..but i only like Dayvan Cowboy nowadays..

Riverside - Second Life Syndrome

It's actually an album but has some quality chilled out songs, absolutely fantastic prog rock band, influenced heavily by Dream Theater.

That has to be one of the most breathtaking music videos ive ever seen

Fall to Pieces by Jonas Steur feat. Jennifer Rene

Also DJ Tiesto's new In Search of Sunrise album (no.6), the first disc is sooo relaxing and good background music for bumping uglies

I listen to a shit-ton of relaxing/chillout/ambient music, so it's kind of a wide variety I could mention here... but I'll just note a few prominent albums that I consider exceptionally relaxing.

Zero 7 - Simple Things
Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
Biosphere - Substrata
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol II

Insofar as individual songs are concerned:
Boards of Canada - Dayvan Cowboy
Aphex Twin - Blue Calx
Aphex Twin - Parallel Stripes
Massive Attack - Teardrop
Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing
Zero 7 - In the Waiting Line
Zero 7 - Polaris
Zero 7 - Destiny
Biosphere - The Things I Tell You

Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips

Listen to the whole album

Trentemoller - Miss you

Smoothest music ever, it has a taste of melancholy in it. Pump up the volume, close your eyes and flow!!

The bass and tone is so PURE in those songs, you gotta check this guy out, he's awesome

Hell Yeah, that song is epicly awesome. One of my favorite incubus song. Incubus is awesome. Too bad the song is all about consuming drugs :( Also, this Incubus song is very jazzy and relaxing.

Oh and by the way, as much as Coldplay is well known, I just want to mention that their music is incredibly relaxing. A Rush of blood to the head will always be one of my favourite albums.

Also DJ Tiesto's new In Search of Sunrise album (no.6), the first disc is sooo relaxing and good background music for bumping uglies

Oh yes, that album was awesome. So many relaxing techno songs there...

Aye Coldplay's Rush of Blood to the Head is an awesome album.

I think..yeah THIS one is probably one of my most awesome incubus tracks for sheer chilledness.

Always makes me think of my ex. Was the song playing when i met her (ironic but believable :P )

Oh yes, echo is an awesome song.

God is an astronaut is incredibly relaxing as well. And surprisingly, no one mentioned Porcupine tree, some of their songs can literally put you to a long relaxing sleep. Hoobastank has many relaxing songs as well, such as Dissapear, If I were you, Waiting, More than a memory...

There's always threads about relaxing music and I always say "Ommadawn part 1" by Mike Oldfield.

"Incubus" and "awesome" are two words that should never be within 50 words of each other.

Hot damn, that guy is awesome (talking especially about the first vid here).

That is pretty awesome. Very relaxing guitar riffs there...am getting the tabs from the youtube website now...

All I have to say is good luck playing them ;)

His guitar skills are immense.

Iron and Wine - now there's a bloke I've wanted to get into for a while. I keep seeing a huge collection of CD's in HMV and I'm always tempted to pick one up out of the blue. What would you consider his best or most accessible?

Also, This Will Destroy You need to release something new. Like... yesterday.
