Not really to do with Episode 2 but maybe a future episode - Who'd like to see Gordon make a return to Black Mesa in the future? For what purpose I've not really thought about. But I think it would be a cool tie in with HL2 if for some reason Gordon & the other scientists had to go back there for some purpose. It would of course be a new area of Black Mesa.

I see you never played op4... In the end an atomic bomb destroyed the base ^^

so... not really possible, or i'm sure that eli wouldn't have made his base outside of the city. he probly woulda tried to remake BM, and guards and whatnot.

black mesa is a big black crater
not going to happen

The last level of HL3: The monstrosity, Breen, who sold out the human race, has taken refuge in the crater that was once Black Mesa. You must traverse the crater to find and destroy Breen once and for all! But beware, his personal troops and defence systems will pose a great danger to your danger. But worst of all... he has been enhanced since his last death, he is now

MECHA-BREEN

I swear, Valve confirmed this with me. :D

Look at the gameplay enriched environment.

Your idea equals

I R TEH GR8EST

Black mesa is toast so chances are nil.

Lets move things forward. Rural halflife2 where gordon has to farm crops and sell chickens and cows. :)

Hes going to return to the original black mesa soon enough. Although not technically new areas, the team behind the mod said they would make alternate routes to make it less linear.

Pffft, Black Mesa's crater is way overrated in this time and age. Give me Kraken Base anyday! :D

i doubt this crated is made by a nuke...i think is a crater made by an asteroid  right?

ya... i belive it was and i also belive its the largest crator on earth and its right here in my state Arizona... but i could be wrong...

Does it matter what the crater looked like? That was the first image I pulled off Google. It's only there to show how shitty a crater in the middle of a desert would be to actually visit in a game.

Maybe you could play it as a flash back, like during the game everything fades and you wake up in black mesa. The vision is blury and you play a bit in black mesa then alyx or someone wakes you up. Could be intressting.

Well, I'm sure there was talk of flashback situations in some interview or other- but since I've heard nothing of it since, I'm assuming Valve was misquoted (or the site in question just lied through their teeth, possibly).

I'm quite sure that G-Man, being the all-knowing, all-capable bastard that he is, would make quite sure the payload was big enough to wipe out all of Black Mesa.

'Tis a shame, because I would have liked a passing visit to Black Mesa in some form or another. For instance, I thought it was great that the last level in DX2 was the first level of DX1. Not saying it would have to be like that, but that sort of full-circle finality was great IMO.

I look forward to seeing the Surface Tension dam split down the centre by a giant wall of ice so that the XBox version will function just dandy.

What is the size of the entire Complex?
What was the yield of the nuclear device?
What was the half-life and/or atomic weight of the radioactive material?
Black Mesa was destroyed by fusion bomb inside facility. Black Mesa is really all gone...

I never said they executed it well.

Thanks for bringing up bad memories. :(

Largest crater in the US maybe. There are craters dozens of miles in diameter around the world.

The biggest crater in the world is called the Gulf of Mexico....its the one that killed the dinosaurs...

I'm thinking how cool would be to have a level in a "glassfied" crater.

Crap, Reginald beat me to it. Anyways, I believe this woue more appropriate, as the site is a Black *Mesa* after all...
