So what about the G-Man? I haven't been keeping up on the news of EP2, are we expecting anything from him? or are is he going to be hiding in this game and then come back rambo style in EP3?

Sorry if this came up before, I'm just after the scoop

Look at the latest trailer for Episode 2 under Steam's media. You'll see him in there.

He's seen in Ep2 trailers, walking towards unconsious Alyx and saying "you're not supposed to be here, forget about all this" and looking at the player. Other than that we don't know anything about his role in EP2.

I bet he's hiding behind crates. And then he jumps out at you and clamps onto your head.

Oh, i didn't know there was another trailer, i just watched the in game videos...it looks awesome

I wonder if the trailer means that the G-Man will finally be reachable during the game. Something I can't wait to have. By that I mean, a moment during the gameplay (not an intro/outro sequence), where you actually approach the G-Man and interact with him, as opposed to the sightings where he's never reachable.

On a related notice, HL1 & HL2 had G-Man sightings, Ep1 had Advisor sightings. I wonder if the Advisor still follows you in Ep2...

The same trailer also shows an advisor moving towards the player. It doesn't seem to be a cut scene. I strongly believe will face an advisor in Ep2.

I strongly believe that the advisor seen in the Citadel in Ep1 was Breen in a host body... so it would be quite possible to see him in Ep2. Plus, Valve said those pods will play an important role in Ep2.

What confuses me in that trailer is the marching Combine army scene. Also, it can be deduced from the various material that there's going to be a lot more Striders in Ep2 - I wonder where all those forces could be coming from, given how City 17 and its Citadel is now history.

Those are the remains of the Sector 17 Overwatch.

Well, that's quite some remains! Striders, gunships, soldiers and APCs... not too bad for remains. By the way, Samon, I expect your written and official congratulations as I've finally played Ep One (obviously) :).

I am super pumped to play this game...I have a sinking feeling at some point in this series there will be an epic battle between you and the Gman, I can see it being a million times better then the battle against Breen, though that battle wasn't that great. Something where you aren't attacking him directly, but more like foiling his plan and in turn screwing him over and making him as vulnerable as you.

Their evacuation from City 17 was pretty quick.
You were knocked unconcious for several hours. You'll find you can get a fair way when you have APCs (soldiers), can fly (gunships and striders), or are 30+ feet tall (striders). In addition, Overwatch have always been stationed outside the city since the start.

Dropships could take alot of the forces out of the city very quickly, maybe they even got some crab and mortar synths out (but probably not). And they may have gotten re-enforcements from other cities (Only comunitcations between Earth and the rest of the Combine empire are out, the cores should be fine, even if the teleportation reacters are out)
