Those people really deserve a big AWARD

Can't wait till september

Am I going to hell because I never played a single splinter cell game?

I liked the first, but got bored at the second. I won't be buying this one. The screens look ok, nothing mind boggling.

Finally we are starting to get some semi-realistic screens. They look much worse than the intial concept art bullshots that were released.

Is it just me...or does it look like absolute shit. Resident Evil 4 has changed how my eyes work, everything else looks shit now :(

No sir. The Splinter Cell series is not one of greatness. You aren't missing anything.

And is it just me, or does his face on that last screenshot look a bit weird?

:| Why does the screens look like the game will be released for PSP or PSOne?

As far as stealth games go, I think they're quite ahead of any recent titles. From my experience they're not quite as open as the Thief games, but they're still quite engaging nonetheless. At least I don't feel like I'm playing some kind of demented radar-driven Pacman as I do when I play the MGS games.

How come you guys are ragging on the screenshots? They look impressive. Certainly not PSP or PSOne quality. Don't be shitting me.

If those are the screens for the next gen version, then all I`m going to say is, we told you so, and from what they are saying on the official DA forums, they are 360/pc shots.

Those are nothing like what those early concept peices, which many thought were real, where shown to be.

Will still be an awesome game, but some people really are to easily taken in.

I think it's rather obvious those're not next-gen screens or PC screens, if they are, they must have settings incredibly low, I'd even dare to say they might even be PS2, due to the lack of shadow in the one with the snow..

I have Chaos Theory on the PC, and plays it with everything maxed out, and it's a beautiful game and it runs totally decent maxed out, I dare not imagine how it could look with even better graphics, especially the lighting part is beautiful enough in SCCT, REAL dynamic SOFTshadows, HDR, that's all I ask of a lighting engine.:p

I might come back with a screeny later.

I like the Splinter Cell games, albeit Chaos Theory did feel a bit too arcadey, I felt the AI for example had been hugely improved upon.:)

I only played the demo for the first and second one. Dunno why I never bought them, I had fun playing them

all of those except the first one look like shit

I hope they don't turn this into some kind of shitty action movie with stealth elements like MGS

Why would they release craptastic shots like that? A monkey could take higher res shots than those.

Indeed, I mean, they look far worse than a maxed out SCCT on the PC, they LOOK exactly like I'd expect the PS2 vers to look like, except for the one with the intense shadowing which's probably XB1..

It seems weird that those'd be PC, because then the engine would have GONE DOWN in quality, and I just don't see that happening.

As I said earlier, I might bbl with some screens of maxed out SCCT :)

looks like the first Xbox version.

the xbox magazine says that there will be one for the xbox and 360. and these look like xbox.

That last shot reminds me of something...

Oh yeah! Every action movie made in the past 40 years.

I enjoyed SCCT and these shots don't look that bad. Hope its good.

Doesn't look much better than Chaos Theory to me.

he asked a very good question..... your retarded

yah, they look shit by the way, maybe at low res or maybe they are for PS2..

Double Agent is releasing for the PC, PS2, PS3, XB1, XB360 and the GameCube..
The screenshot could be for any of those 6..

As I've said, all other than the screenshot with the shadowing system looks like it's the PS2 vers, the one with the shadowing is probably XB1 for the look of it..

I promise you, the 360 should be able to run SCCTs gfx engine maxed..
And anyone here whos played SCCT maxed can agree with me that it's a BEAUTIFUL game.:)

That`s true CT is a beautiful game, I cant run it at maximum resolution, but I can run it with all the effects and settings set to high, and it looks 30x better than these shots, except the one with the faces, that one looks alright.

lol, if you guys cant realize that it's the screenshot quality thats low and not the games graphics, then thats just sad.
Or it could be the possiblily that it is from the PS2/GC/PC version.

The PC will be different from the PS2/GC version, it`ll be next gen like the 360 version

Maybe, but more likely it'll be the X-BOX 1 version. That's the way they've always done it in the past and I believe they were originally going to release the current gen versions at an earlier date than the 360 one, and the PC was included in this list. If I had to guess PC people will get a version that's better than the PS2/GC one, about the same as the X-BOX, and worse than the 360s. There's essentially going to be three substantially different versions of the same game out there, which is a bit ridiculous.

What??? I'll tell you what's ridiculous--it's pretty ridiculous to say that the PC version will be close to the xbox version. PCs right now are capable of matching the 360s/PS3s graphics with alomst no noticable difference (once multi-threading of apps starts becoming more mainstream this might change, but not yet). A top of the line PC is more than capable of handling whatever they throw into the 360 version and the development won't even be that different thanks to the xns development environment MS provides for the 360. I don't know where these shots are from, but rest assured, the game will look phenomenal when it releases, esp if SCCT is anything to go by--beautiful stuff that. :)

It doesn't matter how powerful your PC is, the only thing that matters is the version of the game that gets released for the platform. The current gen one and the next gen one aren't even being developed by the same team, and I'm 90% sure the current gen one is what's planned for the PC version.

In case you didn't know, in the past the X-BOX/PC version has been substantially different than the scaled down PS2/GC versions. Those two versions will still be there for Double Agent, in addition to the 360 one which will be even more different. Judging by the previous release dates the PC version is the same as the X-BOX one, not the 360 one. Of course I could be wrong, I don't think they've officially said which version of the game PC is getting.

I really can't believe people saying all those shots look bad....two of the four show off some really advanced lighting and shadows as well as impressive texture and facial detail.

Nope, the PC and 360 versions are being developed by Ubisoft Shanghai, the PS2, GC and Xbox versions are being done by Montreal, so that alone means that Shanghai are in charge of the next gen versions, of which, the PC version is one.

Check out the official forum, I don`t believe it`s been officially announced, but the general concensous on these boards is that the PC and 360 versions are the same version.

Actually, from what I've been told, consoles utilize their hardware roughly three times more efficiently than PCs do (someone else can locate the quote source for me :)). On top of that, game engines for consoles need to be optimized for a single, consistent set of hardware, whereas PC engines need to work with thousands of different pieces of hardware, and millions of combinations thereof. So assuming I am actually correct, with the X360, you're running on the PC equivalent of 9.6GHz.

But really, the graphics don't matter all that much to make this platform-fight worth fighting. If both versions are content-identical, it won't matter which you get, as long as it runs well enough and looks good enough for your tastes.

The game sounds kickass, anyway. And the first shot is either artifacted all to hell, or just got randomly expanded to fit the page on my Firefox.

You aren't correct.

This only has to do with the fact that consoles aren't bombarded with varying drivers and other digital anomolies that computers are, with their operating systems, etc. They have process to run, things interfering with that or whatever, that degrades the efficiency of a PC playing games.

Simply put, consoles are simple without all sorts of unrelated information, so its easier for them to be more efficient.

for those who doubt about the graphix.... this is from the xbox version
