Ok, so I bought the game a month ago, but havn't played until now, because my PS2 was getting a new "eye", the old one burned out, so anyways, I play it and I love it, but then I realized you can do so much with CQC, and I've pretty much wasted all the time I've played just going in guns blazing, I know MGS is stealth, but I didn't know how to use CQC properly, now I do.

I just defeated "The Pain" and I'm on the outside of the factory where Sokolov is being held. Now, am I too far in the game to restart, or is restarting to play the game the right way a good idea?

I just don't know how far I am, if I'm not far from the beginning I'll restart to play it the correct stealthy way, but if I am far, I don't want to restart the game from that far in.

So please help, Restart, or no?

P.S. I don't know why people complain about the camera in MGS3 compared to Subsistance, I have no problems with the camera...

Well, you can get ecery bosses camo by taking them out with the tranq gun, and if you play though the whole game without being seen once you will get the real stealth camo at the end.

But he has little to no chance of doing that the first time through anyway. I'd say keep going, it's still pretty early in the game. Just use your camo and CQC a lot and you should barely have to fire a shot.

i'd keep going too, theres still a long way left but you have also completed a decent portion so i wouldn't restart, mgs3 is a pretty long game, my 1st playthrough it took me 26 hours or sumit but i did explore and stealth it alot.

Don't go, when you get Subsistence your MGS3 save file won't work on it and you will have to go trough it again from the very start, now believe me you will get subsistence. It's almost to mgs3 what RE4 is to RE1 in term of gameplay. The new camere really really really makes it a shitload better.
PLus you get mg1 and mg2.

You know, just finish and replayit.

I'm gonna do that, the battle with "The End" sucked so much, way to damn long!

It was one of my favorites. Pretty much the only boss fight where stamina comes into play.

I know the feeling, you don't wanna be discovered ever. You wanna be flawless in your advancement. I myself did manage to finish the game in Hard difficulty without being discovered, using a continue or killing anyone. It's nothing you're forced to do though, it's just some stats thingie that doesn't make you miss any cinematics or anything. Although when you've finished the game once, you could try it for a challange. :)

Well, my game right now is on Normal, because I wanted to get the feel for the game before I try it on Hard.

Every single boss I had to restart atleast 1 time, but "The Pain" was just one try, then dead.

Ocelot - I fell off the cliff 2 times... 3rd try he was dead... I sucked here because I didn't really know how to play.
The Pain - First Try, Killed him with grenades..
The Fear - Second try, the first time I ran into a trap hole.... He died at the barrel of my shotgun.
The End - I didn't really know how to fight him, but once I knew that I should use the Sonar and AP Sensor, he was done at about the 3rd try, he kept capturing me... I ended up taking him out with a shotgun.. Nothing else through out the whole battle except a shotgun.
The Fury - 2nd try, because the first time the people kept telling me to use Torches and Nightvision.. those things suck ass, I used the Thermo-Goggles, and once I used those he was dead.. with a shotgun...

I have yet to face The Sorrow, but I accidentally watched a walkthrough on TV (A show called "Cheat!" on G4), so I know how to beat him...

I also accidentally watched a walkthrough for The Boss, so I probably still will restart, but not as much as I would have if I didn't watch the walkthrough..

Why didn't you immediately change the channel? They ruined one of the best games ever made for you...

:|

Well, With The Sorrow, I'd probably quti after not know what to do..

With The Boss, I'd probably beat her, it would just take me longer without the walkthrough.

I didn't really care because I didn't think I'd ever own the game.. I still don't care really, I'm one of those people who don't care if something gets ruined..

I believe after a set amount of tries, they'll give you the outright solution. That's a lot better than having it solved for you right off the bat. The Boss battle is memorable since it sets off one of THE best game endings (certain parts of the translations / writing did need improvement though) ever. I personally hate when things get ruined for me, example: Fight Club. The movie felt so worthless watching it since I knew right off the bat who Tyler Durden was and how everything funneled towards him. That would've been an absolute terrific movie to watch but instead, I got rather bored since I had the entire premise ruined for me.

Well, I just finished the game, and what a fantastic game it was!

As for the boss battles, The Sorrow walkthrough didn't help me any, not one thing was ruined in the walkthrough I watched. (No cutscenes showed off on the TV)

The Boss - The Walkthrough was garbage, and I didn't do one thing it said..

**SPOILER**

I just used snow camo, then crouched and sniped her head when she'd peek out form behind trees, when she'd run at me, I'd use the shotgun. I got hit 1 time, and finished the fight with full health.

**END SPOILER**

No cutscenes were ruined when it showed it on TV, so both boss battles were 100% clean, no walkthrough was used in the game by me, no ruined cutscenes, not one thing was ruined for me.

I still shouldn't have watched it on TV, but atleast nothing was ruined for me.

BTW, my game time on completion: 20:08:36 (Normal)
