This is what happens when I get bored in school:

So... what does the bunny have to do with this.

It is plotting something, I assure you.

THE SNARK SEZ SQEEK!

:|

Anyways, good theory. Do you have a screenie of the snark nest thing? It's been ages.

Only problem is we never find snark nests hanging around Xen flora. They're always in out-of-the-way, semi-dark places, like caves.

Also when I initially looked at the drawing I thought a snark was jumping into the bullsquid's mouth, going down its digestive tract, and exploding out its butt.

Which would be AWESOME.

Great one riomhaire, I see that you are the kind of person that need to tie every single piece of the plot (even the bio-circles of the Xen entities in the HL world).

This simbiotic relationship is something i find really posible, very real if the Xen world existed, even if in HL we dont find them in any fungus, we have barely seen any parts of Xen, and therefore we havent seen too many snakrs nests, so I find it posible and plausible.

I really like your theories.

PD; I have a question for you, what are your thoughts about the Headcrabs and their lifecircle before human contact?, how did they susvive or what Xen animals did they "posses" before they can Attach to other beings (other than the Vortigaunts, whoose are not form Xen). I have allways though about this, but never got a answer that convience me.

lul bunny

But that was pretty smart, what lesson were you going through then?

The rabbit is a refrence to The Bunny Suicides. The greatest book of all time.

Cheomesh: There's a pic of Snark nests on our Snark wiki entry.

Darkside: I know there's not much real evidence for this theory. It's just something I thought up while bored. Actually. I think the original idea came to me when people suggested Snarks for EP2. I thought the nests could be attached to trees and the gravity gun could be used to pull them off. That's where the idea of the symbiotic relationship came from.

Orgror: Thanks. Vortigaunts seem the most likely pre-human hosts for the headcrabs; they seem quite humanoid in anatomy. Vortigaunts may not have been from Xen originally, but then again the headcrabs probably aren't either. They could be from the same world as the Vortigaunts and were brought with them by accident when they migrated. They could also have been from elsewhere, but both species had inhabited Xen together long enough for the headcrabs to evolve the ability to take Vortigaunt hosts.

Alternativly the headcrabs' former hosts could have been Race-X. They seem to be Xenian and roughly humanoid.

Headcrabs where probably from another world, brought to Xen by random portal storms or whatnot. They could have been there for a few hundred years -- they breed fast and as long as nothing eats them often, they will not likely evolve much as they are capable of surviving in their natural state.

I like the concept, but I'd find it hard to believe that the 'nest' (if a mobile creature at all) would end up on trees. I think that if there's anything Snarks still fit with, it's the Pit Worm =P. But I'm crazy like that ^^.

Darkside brought up a good point, and although it's a developing theory (hey, if the Gordon=Gman Theory got off the ground, THIS will atleast make progress) it has some nice bases ^^. I like it, but I find it impractical.

The point is that they need the trees for sustainence, and in return they provide protection; a sybiotic parasite.

I figured the theory was the other way around: Very practicle but based on nothing :P

It's really cool, Rimfire. But to be honest, I prefer HDP Snark nest model by Gearbox...

Seconded, it just makes a bit more sense, albeit, however parts of a corpse are found in BMRF, but whatever, it just seems. . .to fit more? I played the PS2 Version first, and saw the nest on PC. . . and I was like WTF is that D=

Any picture of the HDP version? Never seen it myself.

Someone posted a bit back. I don't remember where though. It looks like a big bubble in the middle of a rotting rib-cage. I guess Gearbox were trying to imply that Snarks feed off of and breed inside corpses.

It was in my thread about Snarks-Pit Worms

'Snark Relation'

Might be on the second page already. . . if it's even in that thread Oo

Hehe, thats great. Reminds me of the concept sketches in RtB.
