I think this is being discussed in about 3 other threads about the videos, thats what I think.

Apparently the Vortigaunts (alien slaves) are now on your side, working with you. This is perhaps because you freed them from the Nihilanth's oppressive rule at the end of Half Life, but that's merely speculation.

Maybe they enslaved human kind (including gordon) and force them to work in labs on projects and stuff? Then gordon, kleiner strike back and blabla, you got a story :)

I doubt it... they appear to be working for/with the humans on friendly terms.

They're on extremely friendly terms with you. Goes a bit beyond that actually, methinks. Gratitude might be an understatement.

Seeing the aliens and scientists working together reminded me of the top-notch Half-Life 1 single-player mod, Peaces Like Us. Anybody else know what I mean?

Yeah, I've played it a few times, pretty decent mod. Garg sequences were quite good.

I'd really like to see Hound Eyes running about the lab and such. That would be nice.

Most likely the aliens that were enslaved by the Nihlanth see Earth as their saviors. So the remaining alien slaves start to help Earth as a thanks for killing the Nihlanth and setting them free.

I've played Point Of View (Xonxt's diary was funny... for an alien, he was really human... always *sigh*ing...)

Never played Peaces Like Us, though (Weird title). What is it like?

Peaces Like Us is about a lab on Xen where humans and aliens (the vortigaunts) are working together. It's a great SP mod.

And the reason for the weird title is probably because it was made by a Japanese person, Koumei Satou. Personally, I love the name. There's also another mod done by Weird Comic Art (Koumei) called Sweet Half-Life. That one's basically just another run through Black Mesa as a HEV-suited scientist, except this time you have a HEV'd female sidekick running around with you at certain points in the game.

You can get them both here:

I really suggest playing them. They're awesome.

On the site you linked to, the banner said Sweet Half-Life was made by Marc Ellis. Doesn't sound Japanese.

Anywho, did anyone notice that the machine that the Vorti was using in the E3 vid appeared to be feeding power into his chest-arm?

I think valve told us last year the alien slaves are on your side this time around .. didn't they? or am I mixing stuff?

The world is a bit messy, we don't know who is on who's side, the combine don't seem to get along very well with alien monsters (ant lions), but ant lions aren't on your side either.

I think the votirgous are on your side because they got on earth by mistake (your (gordon's) mistake) and don't have any problem with humans, they just want to go back home.
in HL1 they were against you becuse well, obviously no one knew what was going on and it seemed that they are your enemy, and you seemed like an enemy to them.

I reckon Gordon slips them the odd Scientist to munch on...

By the way, how do I get this "Peaces Like Us" mod to work?

I have Half-Life on steam and I don't know how to run mods with it.

If someone helps me I will be eternally grateful :smoking:

Heck, you don't even have to pay them minimum wage. After all...they're ILLEGAL ALIENS!

Sorry...that wasn't right.

Just install the mod like you would with the original halflife.
Well it should show up on the steam menu. Although it doesnt always work, you should just be able to play it from that. Because its not made for steam, then it will look like you are loading halflife however it would work.

Edit: Alien Slaves, AKA Vortigaunts now fiight with humans as Valve have stated. It is speculated that they never wanted to fight you in the first place, and they were forced to do so(The collar that they wear controls them somehow, mostlikely by simply causing pain). Perhaps that is part of the reason they dont attack when you are in the factory. They now most likely fight with you to combat the combine who are probably now the ones in control of Xen. So not only to they oppress humanity as we have seen in the videos, but they also oppress Xenians in the same way.

Either that, or he was feeding power into the machine...

yeah you could see Eli put something into the machine, like an hev power pack, and then the alien starts charging it.

What if it's dog, and Alyx just decided to make it look like an alien?

its not dog.. dog is a robot.. and it has been spotted in another video already

One of the student shakeycam vids, from when those dudes visited VALVe. I don't think that the links are up anymore...

in the concept art of the site there is a image of dog
