some assistance please..

hello i recently bought HL2 and when playing i notice in big areas like in the begining of the game the train scene for example, i notice the game lags, and certain sounds tend to jerk.. this mostly happends to me in large areas what can be the cause of this? im thinking it might have to do with the graphics card? my computeris fairly new so i doubt its the PC, i have a gateway running on intel pentium D processor, at1.0g RAM so im leaning towards thegraphics card it came with..

any ideas suggestions would be appreciated!

Start - Execute - Type in : "Dxdiag"
Go to 'Graphics' tab (third from the left)
Please give all the information that is located in the upper left window part.
