Source Benchmarks by IGN

Nothing we haven't seen before in those benchmarks.

Nope, these were out for a while. At least I saw them 3 days ago.

PS: anybody know of good benchmarks with the 9800PRO?

I can't wait to see how HL2 runs on my new rig. It should be arriving in the next couple of weeks (the rig, not HL2 :) )

Yep, but it doesn't mean that another company did the same benchmarks earlier. IGN is usually 2-3 days behind cutting news concerning HL2.

Regardless, the actual link to the article is new. Thanks for posting it!

Yep, and any HL2 news is good news (except delay news that is).

Im suprised the 6800Ultra didnt perform as good or better then the X800XT, i always thought that card was a little bit better then the X800XT. O well both cards are awsome :D

I'm not sure, but I believe ATI cards tend to fair better with DirectX while Nvidia's excel in OpenGL. Regardless, either one you choose will kick ass!

6800 gt edged the x800 pro according to IGN. Maybe the 12 pipelines in the x800 pro is the bottleneck. :dork:

Crimeny crickets! What's with all the benchmarks on high-end hardware? Of course those systems will be able to blow through Source without breaking a sweat. If they didn't then something is seriously borked. What about us poor schmoes with average systems? Give some love already!

middle of the park definitely the 6800GT, top range certainly the X800XT. I don't really see the point in a 6800Ultra at all, at least with the X800XT you're actually paying for more than just a differently clocked core, which is more that can be said for the 6800Ultra.

X800XT and 6800GT's look like excellent buy's!!!

Hm I bought a 9800pro last september (for hl2)... sad to see theyre not even tested in the benchmarks anymore

Same here, you'd think they would realize not everyone buys a gfx card every two days. :|

Hmmm, in the benchmark including the 9800pro, the 9800xt seems to outclass the pro by quite a bit with 4xAA and 8xAF, sometimes making the difference between playable and unplayable FPS.

Is there any great difference between the 9800pro and the 9800xt that would account for this? Besides the higher clock and mem speeds that is. If it's just that, then I am definately overclocking to XT speeds.
