Ok, this isn't a MAJOR bug, but something just irks me a little bit anyways...

Whenever a music track starts up, it is immediately cancelled (meaning the music stops playing) whenever a player enters a new area and the "loading" process begins. This is really annoying for a couple reasons....

1. You don't get to hear the whole track

2. It sort of ruins the purpose of music

3. It's most likely easily fixable

This happens in Half-Life Source as well.

For example...

At the start of the game where you put on your suit and that bitchin' music starts up, when you get past Barney it loads up a new section, and the music just sort of dissapears. If I remember correctly, in the original NON source half life, the music would continue to play during the loading cycle.

Any thoughts on this? This is especially annoying in HL2 when the combat music starts up, only to be cancelled a few seconds later due to a new area being loaded.

Grr.

I don't get that. The only problem I have with source is when playing CS and bumping into eachother. It gives me a headache when my guys starts humping other players. Why do we need to bounce off other players when we run into them?

Actually that reminds me of something else... You can't jump on objects that are affected by physics. Very annoying. I wish I could position objects and then jump on them but I just fall through them instead.

I was a bit surprised this happened too.. but I'm pretty sure the original hl had the same problem

Yes I found it highly annoying - given the rest of the game is so polished, I thought I was a bit of an oversight. It takes away from the immersion completely. Surely it's easy to fix - implement a fade out instead of just simply cutting the sound off completely and leaving you with "Loading..." in complete silence.

I think they likely disabled it because of a side effect of their sound engine. I'm sure many of you have likely heard chunks of sound repeating when you hit low framerates, and it's possible that they found that having half a second of music doing that for 30s was really annoying, and cut it out.

If Valve ever designs and implements a streaming loading system, they would have no problem having the music play between maps.
