I do this WAY too often but I can't seem to shake it. For some reason I just get interested in random stuff and I can't force myself to hit the sack. I'm becoming addicted to howstuffworks.com. For instance, a few hours ago I started reading up on my car and figured I'd go joy riding while practicing my double clutching...at 4 in the morning...:rolling:

Naturally I bought a 4 pack of redbull but that never seems to help too much, plus I hate coffee. Any other eye opening remedies I haven't thought of?

I think you should be investigating methods to induce tiredness as opposed to searching for a way to prevent sleep, which is unhealthy.
My advice to you: Too much caffeine can make you feel sick, I find I can tolerate higher doses when I take caffeine tablets with water as opposed to drinking caffienated drinks. It is also easier to measure the dosage this way. Caffeine pills are much cheaper in terms of strength to price ratio than ANY caffeinated drink.

Most stimulant drugs are prescription only and/or illegal to possess, thanks to the government not wanting us to have awesome staying awake powers/death. The bastards, I too would be interested in what psychoactive stimulants I can acquire legally. The most common and effective is obviously caffeine.

PS I'm not entirely sure how to spell caffeine so I'll keep it like this.

PSS Caffeine IS ADDICTIVE (like nearly all stimulating drugs). Be careful.

I can go to sleep just fine, the problem is I don't want to. This is odd because my general outlook on my daily life is dull at best so I should be eager to sleep. I think it has something to do with my OCD and anxiety but that's just a guess.

I will say though, watching Planet Earth in the wee hours of the morning is amazing :p

30 minutes until I have to shower for work...damnit!

Caffeine tablets. Pep-pills.

I pimped my post using edits. Thoughts?

EDIT: Invesitgate off label use of pseudoephedrine.

:O !!!!!!!! I know exactly what you mean. I just can't make myself to go bed before 1am I have this overwhelming feeling that if I do I will miss something. Then I sit there looking at facebook or 'random paging' wikipedia. I've never done a whole nighter, usually because I finally realize that I have uni in the morning and go to bed.
If you find a cure tell me.. please

too late, i'm at work now...although today will be slow like most days so I can probably snooze for an hour. Only plus side of having a tiny office with no windows.

If you have the opportunity, try and do something cool with the day. Boredom and tedium aren't always avoidable but if you can, then do :)

Anxiety probably does play a big part in keeping you up, as well as this...

This is what i have been doing for the past week or two, staying up till 6 AM then sleeping all day. There is just so much fun stuff to do! Porn, Youtube, Chat, Hl2.net, News, Mail, Movies, 4chan, Games, Music, porn, porn...and uhh, porn.

I still have this problem, but I decided to wake up early as in 8 or 9, and then I just naturally pass out at 12 or so. I'll normally refresh pages feverishly till the wee hours of the morning or try and finish a movie or something to keep me from falling asleep because I too experience the, "No sleep! I'll miss something," disease. Haha

I like, never sleep. Ever... EVER.

Just kiddin.

I have enough problems getting to sleep in the first place.

Well it takes me about 4 hours to get to sleep as aposed the avarage 7 minuits and dont even use caffeine I drink water and my diet is not that bad. Also I am a fairly mild mannered person, I dont have adhd or anything. Nearly everyone at school thinks I am on drugs becouse my skin is now a mild tone of green though nutrition(or lack of) could play a part in that.

I find getting up at five in the morning and watching sky sports news helps cure tiredness. As for staying up longer, that is the last thing I need.

ya, that's the last time I do that...today is absolute shit. I can barely keep my eyes open, I should be hungry but I'm not, and now my stomach is starting to hurt. And to top it off I have a doctor appointment at 2 EST.

I did watch The International though so today wasn't a complete crap shoot. Gotta love having zero work to do in an office of about 4 people.

a very good friend of mine was killed in a car accident ..he fell asleep at the wheel, hit the support of a bridge was thrown through the windshield and died on impact; broke his neck

they had an open casket funeral service ...they probably shouldnt have

dont drive when you're tired

I used to be the same, back in the days of college etc. Go to bed at some ridiculous time and get up in the afternoon. It's self-destructive because you totally waste the day. Probably why Sundays feel so depressing after a big night out.

Now that I go to work I find I wake up naturally at about 8am even on the weekends, and I physically can't stay asleep past 10 most of the time no matter how tired I am. You just need to get into a routine.

The Facts About Drowsy Driving
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 100,000 of reported crashes occur as a result of drowsiness, and considers sleep deprived drivers a hazard equal in severity to drunk drivers. Studies show that staying awake for 18 hours and driving produces the same effect as being legally drunk behind the wheel. The greater the sleep deprivation, the closer the correlation to higher levels of intoxication.

Actual statistics on crashes, injuries and fatalities caused by drowsy driving are difficult to calculate as there is no way to test the fatigue level of drivers. The cost, damages, injuries, and fatalities resulting from sleep deprived drivers have been estimated at $12.5 billion.

Who Is Doing It?
A study conducted by Farmer's Insurance found that 10 percent of drivers admitted to falling asleep at the wheel and 20 percent admitted to momentarily dozing off. Three times more men than women reported falling asleep while driving.

I cant understand how you could possibly fall asleep while driving. If you feel tired, just blast hardstyle music and swing with it. Sometimes i feel like passing out but have been able to stay up another 6+ hours just cuz of hardstyle.

I can. I wasn't even really that tired, so I thought, and I dozed off for a split second. Instantly pulled over and took a power nap. No thank you on crashing.

As for staying up late, get into a routine of going to bed at a set time and waking up at a set time. If you don't have to wake up by any time in specific, set your alarm for 8AM. Once you're in the habit for a while you should be OK. Don't try to force yourself awake, that will cause an issue.
