Seeing that some of you may not be bothered to create an account at Steam Powered - instead Post your Bugs from the Community Update Here and we'll send them all in on behalf of the HL2.net.

Thanks, sloth.

- Cannot message a friend from the Beta friends list if their account isn't set up for the Beta yet
- Cannot change a community from Public to Private or vice versa
- No way to change the name info or abbreviation or webpage extension for existing communities
- You can setup WinAmp in Steam to track the amount of time you use the program, but you cannot open it with any other Steam application (i.e. you can't use Hammer and WinAmp through Steam at the same time)
- Chatrooms for Private groups are 'unlocked' instead of 'locked' by default (not sure if even if they are unlocked the public cannot join or see them but it seems like an issue)
- 'shift+tab' Steam interface causes visual problems in mods using SDK Base
- No mod support for setting up "Play a game" community events (it should read the user's local games list as well as the standard games list)

Dont forget the microphone thing in the chatroom ... I cant explain it.

When using Shift + TAb in some GoldSRC games, when turning it off the scoreboard appears, and you start walking.

It's heavily unoptimised. My rig (dual core, 4gb of RAM, 8800 640mb, etc) gets stuttering now in CSS since the update. It used to be perfectly fine, but it's really bad now.

Uhm sometimes when chatting the person who you're chatting to's name will come up saying what you just said, even though it was you who just said it.

the voice chat thing.

extreme stuttering on opening the overlay.

I hear it doesn't play nice with custom steam skins.

  • Can't join groups.
  • Can't have a custom nickname (it says SteamId but I don't want my crappy username to show in chat, it should be like the old Friends where you could have a nickname)
  • Can't upload avatars (just get the Red X)

*Crashes pretty often. When it does, it kills pretty much the internet and gives me the blue screen of death...for some reason. It's definitely Steam, because it says "Steam has found a problem bla bla close."

Welcome to my world of pain. Been having steam crashing issues and BSOD's since January.

THERE IS NO SAFE PLACE HAHAHAHAHAAHA.... :(

When playing Battlfield 2 through Steam Community, I keep getting kicked out of servers with the following error:

"Unkown Windows API Function"

if you change the in-game button confige to load steam community overlay, if the button binding is to long like shift+backspace the button doesn't expand to meet the length

I'm finding the interface horrible to navigate about on, it reminds me of Myspace where you have to keep going back a page to navigate to a different one.

The idea is great but it's rather unusable in this beta stage.

It sucks CPU cycles.

With the beta running, I'm losing 15-40% of CPU to Steam. Without it, it barely even registers.
This is on more than computer, too.

Steam crashes when trying to load Civ4

its sucking the life out of my computer, and its very hard to read the text while talking to friends with any of the skins i've tried other then the default one.

i've also bluescreened twice since i started using the beta. hmmmmmmmm.

Wow. The beta has been running smoothly for me. I guess I'm lucky.

D:

Well as some/most of you should know by now i'm waiting for my PC to get back to me tomorow, then CSS/DoDS etc. will be mine :D

Had a problem with Civ4 earlier as i mentioned but now it worked fine with SC...odd

I was wondering about this, it did look like the mother of all bloatware when I realised exactly what it was capabvle of, and how many windows I was likely to want to have open at any one time...

[Edit] Ignore. This was due to a bad install that just happened to happen to two of the people on the dev team.

[Edit2] No, this is still happening.

- Makes our mod go hideously jerky, even on (low detail) devmaps. "Show_fps 1" tells me I'm maxed out at 300 so not a graphics card problem and it's nothing to do with client-server lag. This is pretty showstopper for me. I'm not sure if it's the application itself or something else since the update, but it's only started happening since then. It happens to another member of the team in all Source games. I couldn't replicate it on a HL2DM server.

Anyone else getting this?

- A way to delete friends
- An 'autojoin' list so I can choose chats to join automatically when I boot up Steam (like in IRC)
- A way to invite entire communities, not just individuals, to chats (and, in the case of massive groups where this could be abused or cause problems, a way for community owners to set it so their community cannot be mass-invited to chats)

P.S. The 'jitter' bug described above was not related to the Steam beta.

V-Man's bug list

I don't know if any of these are lsited yet but oh well.

Get rid of the fade in when opening Steam windows (uses alot of cpu power).
Make it so that you can either change the name of your clan, or you can give ownership to someone else. Or at least make it so that you can remove it.

That about sums up my feedback.

Seconded. Supposedly you can remove communities by kicking all other members and then leaving yourself, but that method didn't work for me. Also if you demote all administrators to members bar 1, the last surviving administrator will inherit ownership when you leave the community, but it's far from intuitive.

Offline mode has been broken since I signed up for the beta.

It says
Could not connect to Steam network.
This could be due to a problem with your internet connection, or with the Steam network. Please visit www.steampowered.com for more info.

Which is a bit retarded because it's not supposed to be connecting to the Steam network because it's in offline mode!

I have a bug, but it could be my pc. Just before it says "bla bla is playing Counter-Strike" in the bottom right hand corner, a little white box roughly the same size flashes in the top left hand corner.

This is annoying sometimes as when I was watching War of the Servers at my pc, it kept showing.
